Interpersonal communication is the ability to communicate and listens within two or more individuals. It is important to learn communication because this method is the only direct option to connect with other individuals. It would be difficult the interact with individuals without any communication skills. It is beneficial because of its uniqueness of communicating to individuals with different backgrounds. For example, two individuals with different cultures and speak different languages can communicate through non verbal communications. It is interesting that individuals can learn different cultures with different ways of communicating through body languages that are similar to all cultures which can be recognised. It is also beneficial to learn communication because it develops lifetime skills that are needed to survive in societies with advanced technology that can only be learned through methods of communication. It helps to express ideas and cherish the individuals identity and purpose in life.

The differences between linear and transactional models of communication is that linear models consist of a speaker that is speaking to the audience and a audience, a listener, that listens to the speaker. Transactional models consist of a speaker and listener that interacts with each other and they would be heavily involved in communicating with each other. Both models of communications have similarities with the individuals roles as the listener or the speaker. The speaker would have the opportunity to communicate on both linear and transactional models but the listener would not be allowed to communicate and only listen.
