July 30, 2020
For today’s lesson, we tackled about Information and Communications Technology (ICT), on how relevant it is especially now, during our current situation in which we are trying to cope with the challenges facing us and our country. Covid-19 has taken a heavy toll on us, in our education, society, country, economy, politics, and almost every aspect of our lives. Technology is a great help, it can make a huge impact and it is probably considered one of our necessities right now.

Without being fully aware of it, we use technology more than we know. ICT is referred to as all communication technologies which includes the internet, wireless networks, digital tools, social networking, and other media applications and services that let users to access, store, transmit, and manipulate information digitally. Some of the digital tools that we are mostly using right now are mobile phones, computers and laptops. Internet connection is also very essential today for us, students who are taking online classes, entrepreneurs in the e-commerce business, and for people who work from home. Applications or softwares are very important as well such as Facebook, Google Classroom, Zoom, etc. for us to be able to communicate and do our duties as our way of adapting to the new normal.

Since our internet connection today doesn’t have the best quality and speed, its availability and affordabilty are also being challenged. We, the internet connection users, are also being compromised. Our country’s network services should be improved and developed more to be able to cope with the new normal. They should develop ways on how to improve the quality and speed of the connection. It should also be accessible in every part of the country since today, some areas especially the provinces have poor network. Another, not all can afford internet, so as much as possible the cost of this should be minimized so it can be accessed by majority of the Filipinos.
