PTSD can be treated through the use of medicine and psychotherapy(conversational therapy). The use of one or both can help a patient overcome their PTSD and return to normal life. The medicine is usually an antidepressant to help treat the sadness, numbness, worry or the anger or prazosin to help treat nightmares and other sleep problems. The psychotherapy usually includes exposure therapy and cognitive restructuring.
