Climate Change

I chose the news about climate change because I believe that there’s a lot of changes happening in our environment right now. The changes in climate have been affected some areas here in the U.S, there were many fire incidents that already happened due to the heat that we experienced. This relates to chapter because the book talked about “Disasters: Unexpected Change (Macionis 532), this means that unexpected changes can cause a disaster, an example is the climate change, it caused fires in some areas of U.S.

Violent Riots

I chose the image because a lot of countries have been  experiencing it and it’s very controversial. The recent riot that happened and became controversial was the migrants at the border of the United States and Mexico. This relates to the chapter because according to Macionis, "Sometimes crowds can turn violent, transforming into a mob, which is a highly emotional crowd that pursues a violent or destructive goal." (Macionis 529).

The picture represents the migrants trying to cross the border to get a better life in the United States.

Need to Work Together to Function

I chose this item because it showed how each of the term connects with each other in order for it to work and how people end up committing crimes. The chapter talked about how the present relates to the past. These two connects with each other because of what happened in the past will change the future.

I chose this image because it shows how low class people, which is the one on the left wanted to get to the social class, where they have power and resources. This relates to the chapter because according to Marx, "...increasing scale of social life in modern society has resulted from the growth and greed unleashed by capitalism." (Macionis 541).

I chose this self looking glass image because it shows how society sees an individual person. This relates to the chapter because the book stated that, "But from these macro-level approaches, we can also draw microlevel insights into how modernity shapes individual lives." (Macionis 542).

Transformation

I chose this image that shows how modernism revolved to post-modernism. The book stated, "A number of scholars think so, and they use the term postmodernity to refer to the transformations cause by the Information Revolution and the postindustrial economy." Macionis 546). This means that some informations can evolve overtime.

I chose this video because it shows how society transforms into modernization. This connects to the chapter because according to the book, "Modernization theory claims that in the past, the entire world was poor and that technological change, especially the Industrial Revolution, enhanced human productivity and raised living standards in many nations." (Macionis 546).
