A database allows us to compress hundreds of thousands of books of information into a could system, which can be accessed from any device with internet access. This saves space and time, because there is comparatively little space taken up by a database, where as an encyclopedia collection can take many many shelves. Also, time is saved by allowing users to simply type a topic into the search bar, and the system automatically searches the entirety of its collection for answers. It makes writing research papers easier because the citations are already there. Another handy feature is when a database allows you to specify your search by using an advanced search option.
