By understanding why people allowed this horrible thing to happen, we can proceed to understand the horrors of the Holocaust.

Through studying the Holocaust we can gain an understanding of how easily it is to become overwhelmed and loose sight of the truth. Thousands of people got lost within the propaganda that the Jewish population was working against the betterment of Germany. Words can be more powerful when written to create a picture. Weitz calls us to "take this giant leap", in my opinion she is telling us to not be afraid to learn more about this brutal event in our world's history. Being informed about things like this is so important because it gives us an example of what not to do for hopes of a better future if that makes sense. Weitz compares this to time of hatred to a different world showing the effects it had. The poem ends with the author saying that the universe still does not know why the holocaust was gotten away with which is a good enough reason to learn more about this horrible time and be an advocate. We can gain so much from learning about the brutality of the Holocaust because there is so many things that can be learned from it and it also affected aspects of life currently as well as giving information about what the world used to be like. Through reflection on ourselves we can understand better how it impacted others and how we grapple with the disturbing truth of history. 

We can gain a lot of knowledge of how these things set up. Knowing that so much was done over time can help us to recognize the steps of events like this and stop them before they escalate.
