Q7) Describe a few people whom you trust and turn to when you face problems. How have they helped you overcome these problems?

Paragraph 1: Introduction: Quote: “The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.” How would you define trust? This quote by Ernest Hemingway shows us that placing our trust in anything can be tough at times. Trust is crucial in almost every part of our life, and such an example is turning to someone for help in times of need. Trust in my opinion, is the firm belief in the truth or someone. However, finding someone trustworthy is indeed not easy. It might potentially take years of friendship and experiences with each other to decide on whether someone could be trusted. In times of need, we often realise that our ‘heroes’ are those whom we can trust in. So who do you trust and why?

Paragraph 2: One of the experiences in which I vividly remember needing someone to turn to for help was during the preparation of the Primary School Leaving Examinations. It was the first national exam we were taking unlike any other regular test, and for the few months leading to the first paper, various emotions filled within me. I often got disappointed and annoyed when I wasn't making any progress with the amount of time taken. It was three months of madness, frustration, panic, stress and tiredness. I knew that relying on myself to get through this tough period wasn't enough, and that was the moment when I needed someone to turn to.

Paragraph 3: My mother was the one whom I trusted and turned to at that point. Being an educator, she understands the perspective of a student like me as well. She motivated me when I was at my worst and encouraged me when I made an achievement. The practice was of the essence. The number of failures I had experienced during this period discouraged me from further attempts but my mother was there to push me even further. I realised that this was only possible not because of a miracle, but because I trust in my mother. I overcame the struggles I experienced and got through the obstacles faced.

Paragraph 4: Another person who I turned to is my form teacher in Primary 6. She was a warm teacher and often told her students to consult her if they faced any difficulties. At that time, I could not cope with my studies and my grades dropped tremendously, causing me to lose confidence in myself as everyone else is improving, yet I’m doing the opposite. She noticed this and came to talk to me. After realising that I was too stressed, she told me to calm down and motivated me. I could not forget how she looked when she said “If you need help, you can always come and talk to me.” It felt really warm and fuzzy. She would always find time to talk to me and make sure that everything is fine, just like what she does to all her students. After those talks, I became more confident in myself and my grades improved significantly. I need to thank her for all those hours she spent talking to me, understanding my feelings and making me better.

Paragraph 5: Conclusion:

After so many years of being alive, I realised that many people helped me a lot, shaping me to become who I am today. If not for them, I would never be able to get so far in life.

Q7.) Describe a few people whom you trust and turn to when you face problems. How have they helped you overcome these problems?

para 1: "You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if you don't trust enough." Frank Crane's wise words define the process of life itself. Trust is important, but knowing how to discern between someone trustworthy and untrustworthy is a very hard thing. Some say it's a skill but some say that it requires deep psychological evaluation. Trust can be many things. Stepping stones, ladders, but sometimes pitfalls and bear traps. I have many people in my life who i can trust and turn to when i need help, and i am very grateful to them.

para 2: One person who i can trust and turn to are, of course, my parents. They are the ones who know me best and are most qualified to give me advice based on my personality. I used to face many troubles when i was in primary school. I used to get bullied in primary school because of my height. When my parents noticed that i always returned home looking depressed, they took the initiative to ask me how i was feeling.

7) Describe a few people whom you trust and turn to when you face problems. How have they helped you to overcome your problems?

Paragraph 1: Since young, i have always been a problematic child, i was always in need of some form of help, be it with school work or health related issues. However, there were always people there to help me and i am very thankful for them.

Paragraph 2: When i was primary 1, my father brought me to the nearby swimming complex to cool off as the weather was hot and humid. Upon reaching the swimming pool, i was greeted by children playing with water guns and splashing each other with water. After changing into my swimming trunks, my father accompanied me to the pool side. He signaled me to enter but seeing the water, my legs did not listen to me and i was planted to the ground. A shiver ran down my spine and my face turned pale. My father saw my terrified state and realised i was afraid of water. Since then, my father has been coaching me in swimming and i am thankful to him for teaching me a lifesaving skill.

Paragraph 3: I will never forget this situation that happened to me in primary school that changed my perception of teachers. When i was primary 3, i loved toys and felt that if i owned all the toys in the world, i will be the most powerful being on earth. My primary school bookshop was like a toy shop to me, and i wanted everything in there. A few days ago, i made my regular visit to the bookshop and discovered a toy that captured my attention. It was a figurine that could light up and make sounds. I decided to buy it immediately but realised the bookshop was packed like sardines and it was stuffy with no ventilation in there, hence i decided to buy it after school. During lessons, i could not stop thinking about the toy and thoughts of the figurine would constantly pop up in my head. Upon hearing the bell that rings when school ends, i sprinted out of class to the bookshop. I looked everywhere for the toy but could not find, i asked the bookshop auntie where the toy was placed and she told me it was sold out. I could not believe it! I was told the next batch would only arrive next month as the toy was on high demand by many toy shops. I walked home feeling dejected and defeated as i had waited all day to get my hands on the figurine.

Paragraph 4: The next day, i came to school still longing for the figurine and hoping the previous day was just a dream. I plopped down on my seat and took out my items for the lesson. Suddenly, through the corner of my eye, i saw my classmate, John, who sat beside me holding the figurine i yearned for. John was playing with the toy and had satisfaction all written over his face. That should have been me! Jealousy took the better of me and i decided to steal that figurine from John. During recess, everyone had left for the canteen while i stayed behind in class. Once the coast was clear, i stole the toy. After a few hours, John was fumbling around in his bag, searching for his figurine. Seeing this, i felt guilty and uneasy, but i really wanted to keep the toy so i ignored it. John then told our form teacher, Mr Tan, that his belonging is missing. Mr Tan announced to the whole class that whoever stole John's item must own up or he will take action. After school, i kept thinking about the consequences on my way home. The next day, the issue has not been resolved and Mr Tan went a step further to call every student's parents to search our bags for the stolen toy. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. During recess, i mustered the courage to face the music. When i told Mr Tan about my wrongdoing, i expected him to give me a thorough scolding but all he did was smile. I was confused and asked him why he did not yell at me. Turns out Mr Tan also did such a shameful thing when he was young too. He asked me whether i wanted the punishment that his teacher gave him. To my surprise, the punishment was not really a punishment, but a reflection. Mr Tan made me hand over the toy and told me to write an anonymous letter to apologise to John. I always thought that teachers did nothing but scold and their life was boring but after this incident, i learnt that teachers can also be someone you trust and turn to when troubled.

Paragraph 5: From these experiences, i now know there are people in my life who are the samaritans that will help me up when i fall.

Describe a few people whom you trust and turn to when you face problems. How have they helped you overcome these problems?

Paragraph 1 (INTRODUCTION):

When you think of a very special quality everyone should have, trust is the first thing that comes to my mind. Being able to trust someone is very important. We have to trust people in our lives every single day. Trust helps us to have relationships and friendships. It also enables us to rely on someone when facing problems. In my 15 years on Earth, there were some people I could trust and turn to when facing problems.

Paragraph 2 (BFF):

My best friend, Michelle, was one of the few people i could turn to when in need of help. Not only has she been my friend since primary 1, she knew who i really am as a person, physically and emotionally...

Paragraph 3 (BFF):

Elijah was another one of my best friend i could turn to. He is different from Michelle in a way that he relates to me and he faces what i face in real life. He knows how it feels to have high parental expectations, relationships problems and many more...

Paragraph 4 (HELP):

Both of them holds a very special way in my heart. I have never told them this before but i love them dearly and would always help them the way they helped me. Many a times, they would go out of their comfort and ways to help me if i really need it. There are many things they did for me to help me overcome by daily problems i faced everyday, something even as simple as buying for me food if i am hungry. they have been there to support me in ways i could not imagine. they supported me emotionally. they supported me physically.

Paragraph 5 (CONCLUSION):

although the people i could trust to turn to when i am facing problems are not a mature adult like my parents or teachers, they are still my best friend whom knows how i feel as a person. they are basically an extension of myself i never knew i need.

Q4.) 'The best decisions are always made alone'. Write about a few occasions when you found this to be untrue.

Paragraph 1: Introduction: Some decisions are very hard to make alone. Doing a group project alone is a pain and not ideal, working as a group or even having teamwork is important. There have been countless occasions when I have had to make tough decisions and doing it with a group made it very much easier.

Paragraph 2: During our social studies WA3, we were tasked with a group project, we had to construct a survey and infographic. At that time, I felt that my teammate was a very irresponsible person and I did not trust him on doing the work, so I tried doing everything on my own. It started out fine, but after a while, it felt as if the workload was never-ending. There were a plethora of survey questions, and the infographic was unable to cover all the content. In a desperate attempt, I had to ask my teammate, and we split the workload. after All the time spent on this social studies WA3, I realised that this project was easier done as a team.

Paragraph 3: Sometimes during CCA sessions, the exco has to make tough decisions . They have to listen to the feedback given to them by their members and at time having to compromise with teachers . The exco is in charge of many things behind the scenes such as planning , admin work and even disciplinary records . Such things require a lot of patience and resilience and definitely cannot be done alone . The exco rely on each other quite a fair bit not just to split workload but to look to each other in times of decisions like when are the most suitable timings for CCA sessions , what kind of activities will we be doing for bonding days and so on . Decision making is definitely much easier when made with others so you can have a new perspective of the situation you might not have thought of and this is effective as a exco member .

Paragraph 4: But of course sometimes there is some truth that decisions are best made alone . Imagine , you and your group members have done a project and your teacher makes you do a peer evaluation , and there was someone who did not really pull their weight in the project , how do you decide how many marks to give them . These kinds of decisions have to be made alone so you can really think about how this will

Paragraph 5:
