Why I Chose This Specie

I chose pigs as my specie because I have recently had some hands on experience working with them. The behaviors they portray are very interesting to me, and I want to learn more on how and why those behaviors arise in response to a stimuli. I am personally really interested in looking at behaviors during the farrowing process. I would like to look at what effect the different hormones have in response to their behavior. I recently was able to assist a sow during her farrowing process and I experienced certain behaviors such as nesting. This is potentially something that I might pursue after graduating, so I would love to have more insight on this.
