Social media has been one of the most popular platforms in recent times. Many people dedicate most of their time posting, either photos they like or short videos showing them doing trends. However, some people go too far. They post everything that happens to them! Although everyone is free to do what they want, I'd strongly recommend avoiding sharing too much information on social media. Don't allow everyone to follow you, and try to be careful with things you post. If I were you, I'd avoid sharing way too personal information and data, your daily routines, where you live, political thoughts, religious beliefs, or information that may track you down. You may also avoid showing your face. In some cases, people can insult you by the way you look, how you dress, how you speak, so if you are not ready to face this, it might not be the best idea to share lots of stuff with unknown people. Something important to notice is, in many social media apps, you can make your account private, and share your profile with people you choose. So, if you want to have social media just to see, and share with people you know, it will be a good idea to make your account private, while if you will like to share with anyone with the App, you should make your account public, obviously having into account you might face some uncomfortable situations (Harassment, criticism).

For Your Friends, or for the World?

Are you scared about unknown people commenting on your posts? Luckily for you, social media can adapt to what you want to do, either you'd like to share just with friends or share with everyone. Both things are extremely different. If you want to earn money from social media, you would most likely make your account public. Different social media Apps will pay you, depending on the number of followers and views you have. To earn more money doing this, you would need to get sponsors and show them in your videos, but if instead of making money from social media you'd rather share with your friends and family, you can choose to make your account private. This will allow you to have control which people can see your account. When you share your content with everyone, you can be exposed to negative comments, criticism, harassment, and worse, so if you are planning to open a public account, you might need to prepare mentally. On the other hand, when you have your account private, you have total control over which people can see your posts and people you know in real life are less likely to comment negative things on your posts, so this option is ideal if you have social media to share with people you know and watch. Something to notice is if you have a private account, but you allow everyone who asks to follow you, even if you don't know them, there is not much difference. So, if you want to have a private account to just share content with known people, make sure you don't allow everyone to follow you.
