His wife was, Noor Salman. The Federal Government charged her with aiding and abetting and obstruction of justice.  Prosecutors argued that Salman had helped her husband plan the attack on the nightclub.  There is no evidence, that Salman had any connections with any Muslim militant groups or expressed any support or interest in religion. Salman has a low IQ that places her in the bottom 20th percentile of the population; she was regularly physically abused and lied to by her husband, who carried on multiple affairs with women behind her back; and she had no access to the couple’s funds.  She was not arrested until seven months after the attack on Pulse Nightclub. She cooperated with all law enforcement.  At first, Salman  denied any knowledge of Mateen’s plan. Some of the victims included a salon manager, and Army reserve captain, a student, an accountant, and an entrepreneur, all having expectations of going out on that Saturday night to have fun. Most killed victims were young, mostly Latino and mostly gay. Though some people attending were none of those. Pulse was seen as a safe place for lgbtq+members of the community. It has different events each night. On June 12, 2016 the even was Latin flavored. The club is a vast open space which held more than three hundred people that night. The key to the prosecution’s case were revealed to be fraudulent. After visiting Disney Springs with Mateen on June 8 four days before the shooting the couple then drove around Pulse, casing the club together. This was the confession that prosecutors touted over and over, including when they demanded that Salman was held without bail after her arrest. Within days of Salman signing the document it was proven to be false.  Salman was proven to be not guilty.
