Thus, they aim to provide resources to support a community's education, recreation, informational, and cultural needs. Targeting every given information need of a diverse patron population.

The biggest takeaway that was provided from this course was the importance of leadership and how impactful a great leader can be within an information organization. 

Leaders must be able to embrace change for their organization to flourish. Without a proper leadership structure, change can be disastrous rather than meaningful. 

What was impactful about this unit was the professor's emphasis on “strong leadership” because strong leaders are the ones responsible for implementing meaningful change and bringing forward results. 

Strong leaders are motivators, team players, and positive influences and are key instruments to any information organization.

Regarding leadership, our guest speaker emphasized the importance of leaders being adaptable to various leadership strategies and not relying on one one. 

A good leader has to lead by example, recognize accomplishments, show no favoritism, be consistent, and be trustworthy. 

Leaders should always seek room for significant growth when many aspects of various industries drastically change.

These are key fundamentals for creating meaningful positive change within an information organization. 

To create meaningful change, one must be able to identify current trends, conduct research, create concrete plans on how to implement change and establish a team of passionate staff. Without a passionate team, any form of change risks failing from the start. 

What stood out about the change subject was how leaders should engage in “aggressive marketing.” Aggressive marketing requires one to advocate for change continuously and must be able to find various unique methods to promote it. It also requires one to communicate directly with your target audience and leadership.

With our practical experience during the course making our strategic plan and environmental scan, I understood the importance and impact a well-constructed plan may hold upon an institution. 

The more extensive and relevant research allows a strategic planning committee to fully understand the overall effectiveness and what the future may hold for an institution. 

Many embrace new and innovative technology, and many roles have become dependent on instructional technology.

Academic libraries have lost some of their reference departments due to a switch to virtual reference services, and many have been forced to incorporate electronic resources due to rising costs.

They have adopted various digital services to cater to the information needs of their patrons.

Some of these services range from 24 virtual homework assistance, literacy services, computer classes, job training, etc. 

The list of services they provide is truly unique as many are tailored around the community they serve, especially with rapidly changing technologies; many libraries have been incorporating computer courses and services to assist patrons in learning new technology. 

Libraries have begun incorporating computer coding courses, 3-D printers, and various other forms of technology to shorten the technological divide among the population they serve.

Constant changes in new and modern databases and inventory systems.

Many special librarians must be able to structure and develop databases tailored to the organization they work for.

With technological changes occurring quickly, many services provided by libraries or librarians have been outsourced to online services. 

Some of these librarians have specialized roles: data curators, metadata librarians, scholarly publishing coordinators, and others. 

Many of these librarians focus on specific data analysis and management roles and play a more specific role tailored to digital services and aspects that revolve around them.

The unit on diversity held a series of informative videos about how information organizations embrace and utilize diversity to create a positive environment for the patrons they serve. 

To make an environment inclusive for everyone regardless of background information, professionals must be able to determine the individual needs representative of the community and patrons they serve. 

They must be able to put effort into making the environment inclusive for their patrons, considering displays, materials, programs, and various other library operations. Each of these must be tailored to fulfill the needs of their community. 

What stood out to me the most was the important considerations list 

Although it should be incorporated within every organization and business, many are still fair to consider any of these factors. 

Diversity is essential for any information organization as it allows the opportunity to incorporate various unique perspectives, passions, and skills, improving the overall environment for staff and patrons.
