Cutting down native trees and plants have reduced forest lands and native animals are losing their habitats. Half of all forests that existed in 1788 has been cut down for human needs.

  • The Aboriginal peoples lit “controlled fires“  to drive out animals for hunting. 
  • The ash from the fire would also make good fertiliser for soil to help regenerate the local vegetation.
  • When the vegetation regenerates this will attract animal grazing so then the Aboriginals can hunt them down.

  • Indigenous healers used bush medicine to heal people who were sick. They used plants as bush medicine.eg- eucalyptus leaves were a medicinal treatment for coughing.
  • Healer used massage and heat to help pain
  • The British brought in new disease that the bush medicine couldn’t heal.
