Women were obligated  to stick by their husbands in those times, but whether it is a sign of true love and devotion is question that is being raised. In Desdemona’s instance, she has no other choice but to stay with Othello due to the rebellion against her father. Therefore, staying with a partner through cheating or another heart-breaking event shows the true love and proper devotion.
