A real life example is when a phone notification goes off and makes a sound, and in result someone checks their phone. Operant conditioning uses positive and negative reinforcement. When someone becomes punished for doing something, they will cease or stop doing a behavior that leads to a consequence. However if someone is rewarded for a certain behavior then they will most likely continue to do that type of behavior.
