It portrays a divide in the friendship due to some internal conflicts between the three people, resulting in one of them drifting away and the other two growing closer as a result. I would classify my piece as a contemporary style. I am using a bit of Theme and Variation, as well as ABA as a form of structure and composition for my piece. I came up with this concept last summer when I heard a song by Claude Debussy titled, “Valse ‘La plus que lente’”. The song itself has a sort of narrative to it and thus inspired me to create my own narrative. Fortunately, this was the song that I was able to use as the score to my piece. My original concept did evolve into a more personal one regarding my own experience with a relationship that I no longer have in my life. It has now evolved into a piece about the id, ego, and superego. In my piece, there is one dancer who is the "individual” and the other two are her “alter egos”. One of the dancers is trying to lift up and support, while the other is trying to weigh her down. I would say this piece is classified as a contemporary piece. I feel the structure is mainly ABA, mirroring, and some call and response. I would say the concept itself is driving my choreographic choices. Her experience with dance began when she was 4 years old at a studio near her hometown of Waxahachie, TX. She has since then studied
Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Modern, and Hip Hop. She was a part of the Operation Dance Company at her studio for 4 consecutive years and graduated from Second Story Dance & Co., in Seguin, TX, where she now teaches and choreographs for their competitive company. During her
time at Texas State University, Bowling had the opportunity to be a part of the touring company CIM TEYA, which stands for “Creation in Motion: Touring Ensemble for Young Audiences”. Through this company, she learned how to teach and inspire children with the art of dance. Being a member of CIM TEYA gave her the honor of working with choreographers Kaysie Seitz Brown and Torens Johnson. She has also performed in dance concerts at Texas State University which include the student and choreographer showcases, Kaleidoscope and Belonging. Kamryn is beyond
thankful and excited for the opportunity to present her two
pieces in this year’s BFA Concert! She is also grateful for the
