This includes promoting workplaces with gyms/accessible activity areas, physical activity breaks for staff = more productivity, company incentives for physical activity teams e.g. fundraiser walks, sport teams, etc. Kids may exhibit behaviour learned at home, and if they have role models who do not participate in physical activity on a regular basis because of a poor work/life balance, this can lead to a sedentary lifestyle for children too

Work with school boards to advocate for physical activity linked to the school day. Not teacher time but someone else supervising kids outside for an hour before and after school. This allows time for unstructured outside play. As well as helping with the issues families face with the school times not matching with the work day. As well looking at walking to school programs. Linking older kids from schools and/ or older adults in the neighbourhood to walk children to school.

We need to focus on why people are not active. We can keep creating programs but if we do not address root problems and issues we will just have the same people attending the programs and we will not be making an impact on the overall health of our community. We could focus on some target populations rather than all the universal programming we do. We have been doing PA for years but rates have not changed. We are no better now than 10 years ago. Why is that?

We are spread out in our programming. Perhaps if we had a clearer focus we could do a better job at having an impact. Perhaps we rotate initiatives. Multiple teams could help deliver aligned programming. More intense work but with better outcomes. Right now we have so many PA activities that happen in schools, communities etc. Is it possible to take a more comprehensive approach.
