With droughts and downpours in the chesapeake bay area the nitrogen levels are rising. When the nitrogen levels rise in this ecosystem, the algae that already exists starts to grow. These algae spores can cause great damage to this body of water because if it gets to high the bacteria can kill fish, plants, and anything that lives in that body water. And this isn't just happening over there, this can happen to any body of water if the nitrogen levels get to high. But runoff from farms or fields are also are also to blame for these levels rising.
