"The Gift of the Magi" is a short story by O. Henry first published in 1905. The story tells of a young husband and wife and how they deal with the challenge of buying secret Christmas gifts for each other with very little money. As a sentimental story with a moral lesson about gift-giving, it has been popular for adaptation, especially for presentation at Chirstmas time. The plot and its twist ending are well-known, and the ending is generally considered an example of comic irony.
Beside being poor they both had one precious thing. For Della it was her long beautiful hair😊. Jim loved Della's long hair, and for Jim it was his gold plated watchwith⌚️ belonged to his forefathers. The couple were very happy with each other.
On Christmas Eve , Della Young discovers that she has only $1.87 to buy a present for her husband Jim. She visits the nearby shop of a hairdresser, Madame Sofronie, who buys Della's long hair for $20. Della then uses the money to buy a platinum pocket watch chain for Jim. When Jim comes home from work that evening, Della admits to him that she sold her hair to buy him the chain. Jim gives Della her present-- a set of ornamental combs, which she will be unable to use until her hair grows back out. Della gives Jim the watch chain, and he tells her that he sold the watch to buy the combs. Although Jim and Della are left with gifts that they cannot use, they realize how far they are willing to go to show their love for each other and how priceless their love really is.😍 The story ends with the narrator comparing these sacrificial gifts of love with those of the biblical Magi.
This is very comical and emotional short story with a nice twisted end!...Hope you all liked it..😊
Stay happy and enjoy reading!.😊

The story about love at first sight, and a relationship that quickly develops over the phone, with friends playing moral support and a twist that derails their love story.

Some stories are just so wow. You love some places and you don’t like some places at all. I’m not a die-hard romantic, but I do like love stories. This one is probably for the die-hard romantics.
The story is about Akash and Aleesha. The former is a young working guy, who enjoys his life and is very excitable. He and his best friend Aditya go to a discotheque where Akash meets Aleesha, who is new to Mumbai and has come to the disco with her family friend and roommate Tamanna. Aleesha is a pampered girl, who worries more about a chat message going through than checking her exam marks. They get talking, and soon exchange their BBM pins. Over BBM, they slowly fall in love, and courtesy Aditya, they meet often as well. Their relationship goes through ups and downs, but they are guided through it by their friends. Then something happens that gives a bigger hurdle to jump over.

Right… what I liked is the concept of friendship in the book. What Kritika is to Aleesha, and Aditya is to Akash, the narration of that was nice to read. It made me feel happy to see such friends. Another thing was that the novel wasn’t too mushy. It was stretching from love to sickly sweet love, but I didn’t feel like it crossed over. I like the concept of true love that is portrayed. The ending warranted that, and it got it. Some parts to ponder over, positively… the way Akash expresses his love for Aleesha, the notes of love of each character and the twists. But I feel this novel, when looked at with a little depth, is more about the exploration of relationships than just a love story. The narration from different points of view of characters was also a nice touch, and it felt right in place from the prologue to the introduction chapters. The overall pace of the story was quick, and I could finish it in a few hours.
What I feel can be better is that you feel stuck with some things, when it should move on. So when we go into flashback with a gloomy hero, the epilogue should be starting with the flashback ending, and headed toward the climax or finale, rather than just a conclusion.
I haven’t read much of Sudeep Nagarkar's work, but I think what I chose from his ocean of novels was the best one ever.... As for this novel, it’s a decent book. It wasn’t the story of an online relationship after all. It’s a one-time read for me, and a book that is best for travel.
I prefer this book best for alone reading and when traveling.😊😇Have a greating reading😇🤗

Shouvik Bhattacharya, an Indian author, has penned his debut thriller called, Murder in a Minute that revolves around the murder of a young and ambitious woman, who is the chairperson of her father's company, inside her own room and in the presence of her step brothers and sisters, along with her colleagues and her college boyfriend. And surprisingly each one in that mountainside cottage has an alibi, even though the initial investigations point at the killer being present in that house.
“People are essentially good, until they are caught.

When a young woman is found lifeless in a pool of her own blood, everyone is convinced that it is her college sweetheart who murdered her.

Esha Arora, the young and ambitious scion of a reputable and rich family now heading the family business of Arora Cements, is found brutally murdered in her bedroom at her mountain side cottage that she shared with her step brothers and sisters, office colleagues, a client and her college boyfriend. The initial reports and investigation leads to someone being present in that cottage, but surprisingly, each one of them, from the housemaid to the CEO of another cement company, have an alibi. Adding to the grief and anger and their determination to give justice to their dear elder sister, Esha, two brothers, Rishabh and Arya decides to play Sherlock besides the local investigative cop.

The author took me by surprise with his debut novel, for being a thrilling, mind-blowing and arresting story. And I'm glad that I picked up a copy of this book, which undoubtedly hit the bestseller's list, since the story took me on a wild horror journey on putting an identity on the faceless killer constantly hiding in the background of the story line. It is a chilly feeling for its readers, but the suspence is bound to keep the readers glued to the book.

The author's writing style is fantastic. The tension and the tightness build just make the readers stuck into the story line gradually through the development of the plot. And the readers won't be able to get away

The dialogues are engaging enough to keep the readers stuck in the book for pretty much the entire length of the story. The ending was so thrilling and the author ought to keep the suspence unopened till the end. The first and second half of the story is compelling enough to keep the readers turning the pages of this book.

The clues and twists comes out of nowhere. And the sudden plot twisters upped the suspense level of this story line. This one is a plot thriller and that is enough to keep the readers interested into its very core.

In a nutshell, this is a must read suspence thriller. An engaging and spicy thriller with drama and enough suspense.

Keep stuck to books and enjoy reading😉!

'KIM' BY RUDYARD KIPLING ⚔️

Kim written by Rudyard Kipling is the life story of a boy named Kim who earned his living by running through streets and begging..... A small outline plot of the story is given below..😇

Kim is a poor, white, English boy who speaks the local Indian dialect and was born in British, India (actually in present day Lahore, Pakistan). His father, Kimball O’Hara died when Kim was only three, but told him that “a Red Bull on a green field” would one day appear and befriend him. He has his birth certificate and a couple other papers sewn into a leather pouch which he carries around his neck. He has grown up very poor, a street kid with incredible smarts.

His adventure begins when he meets Teshoo Lama, a lama monk who is on a search for a sacred river. Kim becomes his chela, sort of servant/companion. They set off on this journey to find the sacred and magic River of Healing which the lama is looking for and which will free him from this world into some higher spiritual space.

The first journey that Kim goes on with the monk is from Lahore, in current day southeast Pakistan, on a journey slanting southeast across India to Banaras (present day Varanasi, India). From Banaras they will take the Grand Trunk Road that runs from Banaras to Calcutta.

The monk intuitively recognizes that Kim, only about 14 at the time, is quite a special person.

“He is, I think, not altogether of this world. He was sent all of a sudden to aid me in this search, and his name is Friend of all the World.”

The two travel The Grand Trunk Road hunting this magical river, but the adventure takes on a second task as well. Kim finds his red bull on a green field. It is the flag of a group of Irish troops in the British army. They remember his father, and given Kim’s special language skills and knowledge of the local culture, and his brightness, this young boy becomes an unlikely British spy.

We follow his adventures with the lama seeking his saving river and his (unclear) work with the British as a war threatens to break out in India which will involve the Russians. The coming war is referred to as “The Game” by the British, and one sage, speaking of the young Kim boy:

“. . . only once in a thousand years is a horse born so well-fitted for the Game as this our colt.”

The novel is part adventure, part travelogue; there is only a relatively slim plot outside the notion of the lama’s goal of finding his river. The war is a distant cloud hanging over the story, threatening rain, perhaps a bit of thunder, but it keeps its distance and the rain of war is avoided.

The novel is a delightful read. On the one hand it reminded me of a much longer version of something like a Hardy Boys novel for children. However, this is definitely not a children’s novel, nor is it of trivial things – there is a search for eternal life and involvement as a spy in a coming war. Poverty and hardship is everywhere. Nonetheless, the novel does seem an excuse for adventure for its own sake. We learn a good deal from the lama about his notion of spirituality, but we learn virtually nothing of the power and role of the River of Healing, and we know almost nothing of the coming war itself. They are sort of teasers or anchors for the story, yet they each remain on the fringes.

There is no doubt that the author has and displays a vast knowledge of India, its culture, its many religious, the lives of common folks especially the native poor. He tells good stories and I was gripped by them. However, the sparse plot, sort of weak bones which hold up the scaffolding of the story, doesn’t seem of the same quality of other works I’ve been reading by Nobel Prize winners.

I think that Kipling’s strong reputation is built on other works, especially his poetry and short stories. I am, however, very happy I read the story and was inspired and gripped by it!
Hope you liked it!..
Happy reading😇
