CIA launched an invasion on Cuba in an attempt to overthrow Castro and the Communists to prevent nuclear weapons from being stored on the island. The invasion failed as JFK would not approve the Air support and naval support necessary to protect the troops. 

 

Example 2: Cuban Missile Crisis
  13-day political and military standoff in October 1962 over the installation of nuclear-armed Soviet missiles on Cuba...¦ ended when the U.S. agreed to the soviet offer to remove the Cuban missiles in exchange for the U.S. promising not to invade Cuba. Kennedy also secretly agreed to remove U.S. missiles from Turkey.

-Bay of pigs failed due to his failure to commit proper support, the resulting tension led to the CMC

Most people liked him and he had high approval ratings

Did not create national pride
- Bay of Pigs Invasion

Grade - C-
His promise of man setting foot on the moon created national pride but it did not happen during his presidency. It took him being assassinated to bring the country together during the Cold War and Vietnam War.
His failure in the Bay of Pigs Invasion put the country at risk and the Cuban Missile Crisis almost caused complete annihilation of the United States.
