In this episode of the Goldbergs, Adams older brother is just turning 16 and is excited to finally be able to drive. However, neither of his parents feel he is ready to get behind the wheel yet. The episode is a rough trail of Adam's brother fighting with both parents to allow him to get his license, which he is able to convince his father of half way through the episode because his father has a soft spot for him. During this time the Character in question, Adam, is at a waffle house with his grandpa getting some life lessons on these new "urges" he is beginning to feel towards women.

This particular episode didn't show Adams relationship with friends, but it did show the relationship he has with someone close in age to him which is the waitress at the waffle house he and his grandpa were at. This waitress also just happens to be the girl he has a crush on so whenever she is near he acts like someone he is not to impress her. Not only does she get his name wrong every time she addresses him, but she also finds out why he is there and looks at him in disgust as one would when they learn what you've said about them while your back is turned. This teaches Adam that he shouldn't say things about people that he wouldn't say to their face, but also to be more aware of his surroundings

The entire show is framed around the dynamics of this family and the impact they have on each other so there is a lot of family impact on the main character from each of his family members. From his Grandpa, Adam is being impacted by learning about his urges and what he can do to get the opposite gender to notice him. From his brother and father he learns about how his father shows love towards them since he does it in a not so conventional way since he is always yelling or insulting them. With his mother and sister he tends to try and avoid these two as he is going through changes in his life that are due to women and he does not want to discuss those types of feelings with the two women he lives with.

During the time of this show Star Wars was a really big hit among the younger generations and it shows. Not only is Adams child character wearing a star wars t-shirt during the whole episode, but he makes several references to the movie and tells his grandpa that he is his Jedi Master. This was the only huge Media impact I noticed, at least for the main character, but it was still big enough to mention since his character will most likely continue to make several references in regards to the Star Wars series through the course of the rest of the show.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I really feel that this show is a good representation of family life during this time, even if it may be well exaggerated. The character Adam is still young and has a lot to learn with which I feel as the show continues he will grow and learn a lot from each member of his family, even those he has been trying to avoid in this episode. Family shows always tend to be very similar in a sense, however I feel I can relate more so with this family than any other I have watched on shows solely because there family dynamic is just so clustered and exuberant which is what being in a growing family tends to be like that most shows don't take the time to emphasize on.
