If you're like me who's easily distracted until she loses time for other important things, this is for you.

It was just recently when I discovered that I love planning out how my day would go. Usually, the first thing that I would do in the morning is to think of the stuff that I either need or want to accomplish for the day. I would always set a to-do list in my head and try to get as much motivation as I can, to tick all the boxes on it. However, there's this one thing that keeps me from being productive. Once I put my hand on it, all my plans get postponed, or worse, canceled.

I bet you know it already. But if not, I was referring to my cellphone. I am not sure so I want to ask, do you also feel that your phone has the power of making a two-minute break last for a couple of hours? Do you feel that when you're using it, everything else seems unimportant or nonexistent? Like the time we spend on it just gets out of hand. The next thing we'll know is the fact that we weren't able to do all our tasks and we've been very unproductive.

But don't get me wrong, I am not saying that we should always pressure ourselves to be productive or do highly valuable things all the time. It's just sometimes, we are left with little to no time for other fun, active, healthy, or more important stuff because our fingers get glued onto our phones. Our eyes seemed to be hypnotized by various online content, and because of this, things that matter more are left unattended.

I came to this realization that I shouldn't allow myself to spend most of the day using my cellphone. But that wasn't enough. I knew that I must take action. So, in order for me to use my time more wisely and not be idle with my phone, I started doing these:

1. Just quickly checking my phone in the morning and then eat my breakfast right away
2. Thinking of all the things that I need or want to do and accomplish some of them already
3. Checking my phone for 5 minutes strictly without sitting or lying on my bed
4. Proceeding to my other tasks or just keeping myself busy (most probably with school)
5. Trying to use my laptop when I need to check something online because it's less tempting/distracting
6. Not bringing my phone with me all the time or leaving it in my room when I transfer to other areas of our house

I've noticed that after I made efforts in lessening my cellphone usage, my productivity really increased. I saw that my cellphone was a huge hurdle that prevented me from making the most out of my day. And gladly, I was able to overcome it.

Remember, cellphones are useful but they can be very manipulative. So always see to it that you're the one in control —not the one being controlled.

I hope this made an impact and helped you in any way. Thanks for reading! I appreciate it a lot!
