The genre decreased in popularity, but it never really disappeared. Electronic dance music genres like house and techno are direct descendants of disco because they didn't feel comfortable, on the dance floor .

Hip hop represents a culture that spans music, dance, visual art, fashion, and attitude. Rapping, at its most precise definition, is rhythmic rhyming over music.

More than a simple genre, it represents a whole culture with dances, visual arts fashion, and attitude.

Hip-hop quickly spread through the other boroughs of New York City and entered in its "golden age" around 1986 with more experimental and complex lyrics.

The main singers and groups were 2Pac, the Notorious B.I.G and Missy Eliott.
