Final piece of the painting. I added more oranges, light blues and yellows to the highlighted and shaded spots in order to further accentuate the 3D effect that the stripes of the title dream men conveyed. The final version of my cyber swordfish.I corrected the smoke plume on the far left to look more in tune with the other plumes and colored in more bubbles.I was very pleased with the overall result of the picture-especially the details of the smoke, the rusty swordfish plates and the bubbles. This was my second painting created from one reference photo (After the Ponytail girl watercolor). At first I tried to color it as close to the original as I could, but from further advice by Ms. Ross, I decided to add some different colors than in the photo such as yellows and pinks in the bushes. This was meant to be a soothing, pleasing painting. I likes the vibrant colors and was pleased with how the landscape turned out. I first drew the lineart and then put the base colors of the background onto the Yupo, and then let it drip and blend in a sort of sunset way. The outcome was kind of satisfactory, but on the other hand I fell as if the background got a bit out of control. After some lightening and shading the hands in the sky, my work is now finished. I softened the area around the yellowish glow by brushing more water on it and drying it with a paper towel. I added some yellow to the background to create more pops of color. This was the final photo of the Fittest of the Species work. In it, the background has been better shaded and developed, there is a wider variety of gray tones and more dark spaces. The distinct shapes and texture created by the shading was my favorite aspect of it.
