Japan tries to state that Dokdo(Islets) is their own territory even though it is Korea’s. This article would be economic, as there are a lot of minerals under the sea below Dokdo. Additionally, this article would also be representing political as earning these islets would increase the territory of Japan.

The Annexation of Crimea was when Russia had taken the peninsula of Crimea from the Ukraine in March of 2014. This was a form of Military Imperialism for two main reasons. First, Putin wanted Crimea for its large population of Russians. Second, he wanted it for its geo-strategic importance. Crimea is home to a naval base as well as its location.

The Israel-Palestine Conflict, was caused by Israel’s wish to imperialise the Palestinians, and the Palestinians retaliating. Israel has a religious, and therefore social motivation to conquer Palestine, and exert their religion over those people, claiming back their territory. This has all resulted in a very violent conflict.

These articles show military imperialism, because Chinese air force fighters in Taiwan are exerting control over the taiwanese people to gain a geostrategic trading post that is that will give China access and control of the gateway of the Western Pacific and the Indian Ocean. 

In Peru, there is an area called Camisea, which is in one of the most pristine parts of the Peruvian jungle. The people opposed to extracting natural gas from the jungle say it threatens isolated Amazon Indian Tribes, rare species and the state of the rainforest. The defenders of the proposal say benefits will be huge and that the social and environmental costs can be minimized. This is an example of social and economic imperialism. It is social because it affects the lives of people, and is economic because it could bring riches to the area. This is an example of sphere of influence as the government of Peru is trying to use their power to make a compromise with the people.
