Sharia law is an islamic legal system and acts as a code of what all muslims should do which includes prayers, fasting and donating to the poor. How does it connect. These connect because if you look at it during the boer war Britain was essentially trying to get rid of South Africa and own it themselves which is exactly what the Boko haram insurgency is doing to Nigeria right now. The whole reason the Boko “invaded” nigeria is because they felt that they were not islamic enough. Obviously with The boer war Britain wanted to invade because South Africa had the richest gold fields .

Battle of Batoche: General Middleton to waited two weeks for reinforcements before his march toward Batoche. In the morning of his forces attacked the defences of the southern end of the Batoche settlement. After a brief, intense conflict in the morning, the cautious Middleton kept the attackers at a discreet distance from the enemy positions. In the afternoon, after failing to make headway against the entrenched enemy, the troops built a fortified camp just south of Batoche. The next two days were repeats of the first. The troops marched out in the morning, attacked the Métis lines with little success and retired to their camp at night. On 12 May Middleton attempted a coordinated action from the east and south but the southern group failed to hear a signal gun and did not attack. 8 of Middleton’s force died during the Battle of Batoche.51 Métis and First Nations were killed the boer surrendered on 15 May.

Great britain had already had a huge military consisting of !5,000 troops while south africa had 5,000 troops. The boer’s army was extremely well skilled for being so small and considering they were winning for a lot of the war but in the end the majority of countries were under British rule so they already had a lot more resources and people supporting them. Also imperial forces would tried to deny the boer’s food and water. Canadian troops would burn the boers houses down and moved people into internment camps. Internment camps were camps full of women, children and black workers. Over 28,000 people in these camps died of disease.

In 1885, women were able to serve as nurses for the first time in Canadian history to provide care for the soldiers. Since this happened before the war, it means that women also served as nurses during the boer war. In total 12 nurses served in the the war. Women who were not nurses were not allowed to participate in the war and were forced to stay in concentration camps, where they were treated very poorly.

What was the core message of the war

The core message is that back then people could not have a care in the world for people as long as they were getting money or any kind of benefit. Although the boers were under British rule it doesn't mean you can start a whole war over gold rich’s and not even think about all the people you are hurting. It also shows that if you are not white then you don’t deserve to live especially when british troops were putting women and children in internment camps just because they wanted to win.Now we all understand that if it’s not on your land do not take it or anything from it.
