         <title>The Pardoner&#39;s Tale</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Motif/Themes: In the Pardoner's Tale, the three men are rude to the old man, and he leads them to their death by making them be greedy. They all plot against each other and end up getting none of the gold that was given to them.&nbsp;<br><br>Allegory: Respect your elders, and don't let greed get the best of you&nbsp;<br><br>Literary Elements:<br>1. Three young drunk rioters<br>2. The three men went against the old man, going against most normal mortality, and then they died.&nbsp;<br>3. An old man who tells the men where to find death&nbsp;<br>4. The just ending is that the three brothers that were plotting against each other end up dying because of each other.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Motif/Theme: In The Devil Wears Prada, there is an aspiring writer that joins the team of one of the top fashion magazines in the US. She makes her deal by sealing her fate with her evil boss, to gain knowledge of the writing world.<br><br>Allegory: Don't take the little things in life for granted. Appreciate the small things. <br><br>Literary Elements:<br>1. Although we looked, there is no evidence of things in 3 <br>2.  The main character is tested in her morality with the new tasks that she is given every day <br>3. Her guide is the man that she works with that helps her survive her job <br>4. The just ending is that the main character grows from her job and befriends her old boss (that she used to despise) <br> </div>]]></description>

         <title>The Three Brothers </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Motif/Theme: There are three brothers (wizards) that are trying to cross a bridge. In doing so they encounter Death on their way over the bridge. Mad that the three brothers have outsmarted Death, Death gives them all a gift. The two brothers are greedy and take gifts to escape death, but the third brother picks wisely. When the third brother dies, Death accepts him as an old friend. <br><br>Allegory: Don't abuse the power you are given in life<br><br><br>Literary Elements: <br>1. The brothers are "the things in 3"<br>2. The characters are tested by what gifts they pick, and how they use them in their lives<br>3. In a way, Death is their guide<br>4. The just ending is when the brother that did not try to escape Death is accepted by him as an old friend and the other two brothers are brutally punished </div>]]></description>

         <title>The Scarlet Letter </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Motif/Theme: In the Scarlet Letter, Hester Prynn has committed adultery by sleeping with the priest. She is then shamed and made to wear a scarlet A on all of her clothes to show everyone of her sin. Hester struggles with many things throughout the book, making her realize that life throws many difficulties in your way. <br><br>Allegory: There is a silver lining in almost every situation.<br><br>Literary Elements: <br>1. There is no evidence that there is a "thing in 3"<br>2. Hester's morality is tested when she is made to wear the A and how Pearl changes her life and how she is viewed in the eyes of the town's people<br>3. There was no guide in this piece of work<br>4. The just ending is that in the end, Hester and Pearl are accepted and Hester wears her A in remembrance of how life was in the past. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In comparing and contrasting these works, we see that the motifs and themes are very similar. In the Devil Wears Prada and The Scarlet Letter we could not find things in 3, so that sets those 2 apart from the rest of the works. We think that is because they are more modern. In the long run, these pieces are more alike than unalike.  </div>]]></description>
