1. I say 150 yards of cloth to be oiled and sewn into tents and sheets was important because if they didn’t have a way to get out of the weather than they would’ve probably died.

2. I think their guns were pretty important because if they didn’t have uns than they couldn’t defend themselves and get more food.

3. I think that the 50 dozens of rush pills were pretty important because they had to have energy to go long distances and if they didn’t have the energy, it would’ve taken them longer.

4. I think their clothes were important because if they didn’t have extra clothes then they would’ve been in the same clothes for 2 years.

5.I think that their steel to strike fire is important because if they didn’t have a fire then they wouldn’t have heat and they wouldn’t have a way to cook their food.

Biscuitroot: When this plant is cooked it can be turned into a soup. First you cook the plant into bread and it can be traded. Or if you want to eat it, you can make the bread into a soup.

Blue Catfish: Blue Catfish is the biggest species of the North American catfish. It can help them because they are good eating fish and they have a lot of meat, so they could feed a few people with just one fish. Catfish can accumulate multiple contaminants in their body that could harm them.

I would choose Sergeant Patrick Gass. Gass joined the military in 1789, and the expedition was in 1804. That means that he has 15 years of experience in the military. He would know how to act and be professional on the trip. He also must’ve been determined to be in the expedition and must’ve been a good soldier. When he asked to be a part, Captain Bissell said no because he wanted Gass’s craftmanship’s skills. If he was a good craftsman, than he could help make tools and other necessary items for the expedition.

For my second person I would choose Private Joseph Field. He was an excellent hunter and woodsman and was one of the first to be enlisted. If he was one of the first people to be enlisted, then he must be valuable to the expedition. He was about 30 years old at the time of the expedition, which means he had to be in good condition for the expedition. As a skilled hunter and woodsman he would know what parts of the animal are important, and how to capture an animal. With being able to hunt he could get food for the people so they don’t starve.

The Missouri Indians were part of the southern Sioux tribe that lived near Nebraska and Missouri. They lived in earthen domes, farmed, and hunted buffalo. They had their numbers depleted when smallpox struck the tribes, so they grouped up with the neighboring Oto tribe. When the tribes combined they had roughly 250 people. When Lewis and Clark came to their place, most of the people were hunting so they kept going down stream. Soon after some smaller chiefs of the tribe met up with the corps at their camp and they invited them to a council in the morning.
