Lippi taught Botticelli many different and unique techniques and art styles, such as linear perspective. Filippo Lippi’s painting style influenced Botticelli’s artistic formation. Lippi’s painting style was formed in the early Florentine Renaissance. By 1470, Botticelli had his own workshop was established in Florence as an independent master. After Lippi left Florence to Spoleto, he started working on and improving the techniques and styles he learned from Lippo. He studied the sculptural style from important Florentine painters in 1460, such as Pollaiuolo and Andrea del Verrocchio. Botticelli's art included shading and would be able to show and suggest the mood using action, pose, and facial expression. He painted different genres of Florentine art, such as altarpieces in fresco and on panel, tondi (round paintings), small panel pictures, and small devotional triptychs. He never got married since he was so absorbed in his art, and always lived with his family.

(Sandro Botticelli -- Britannica Academic)
(Sandro Botticelli -- Gale)

Giovanni is his elder brother, who was a pawnbroker who was called Botticello, which means “Little Barrel.” Mariano di Vanni dei Filipepi was Botticelli’s father. He was a tanner. After Sandro's schooling was finished, his father had apprenticed him to a goldsmith. But since he enjoyed painting more, his father put him under Filippo Lippi. Lippi was one of the most admired Florentine masters. This brings us to his early life and career.

(Sandro Botticelli -- Britannica Academic)

(Botticelli's "Primavera" and the Poetic Imagination of Italian Renaissance Art - JSTOR)
