Before I look for different things, I usually want to look for similarities...

Is this weird? Idk

My mindset /self challenge is to look at these three words like they are all cats but different breeds and categories. 

Some might be tigers. Some might be house cats, and some might barely count as felines.

And so for that, I look deep for what these three words have in common 

First, it must affect something in some way. 

It can't just exist and do nothing 

For example, air despite it seems like it is doing nothing is actually reacting with our body to keep us alive.

And

Now, with that in mind, I start to look how each of them become their own version of themselves 

How they affect the other the way they are and if these three word is a three brothers. I must say They have a lot of personality. 

Power

When we talk about power, the second thing that comes to mind for me is control.

Power is not just muscle power but also authority of commanding, and although the command itself is not a living being, it is generated by one to affect the other and so

Power feels very man made out of the three

A very define shape with edge and colour that invoke the feeling of authority feel like a very good mix to express the raw power that is both physically Tough and verbally commanding. while also show the feeling of being humans made by being perfectly shape like a box inside another box show the absolute control over everything 

Although I wanna make this different from how people usually represent power with explosive looks, that is more of an energy thing. Power is a much more sophisticated word to me.

Well, since it is man made

I decided to represent it with a salt crystal. It is man made with its own defined cubic shape. It is not living, and it is very defined with its shape.

And so I go with this red salt cube icon for power

It means to look like both a salt crystal and a cube containing a cube to show its message of power.

Essence however 

Is fairly different from power

In my experience, essence is usually used with words, life and natural things and other things living related 

Although not as demanding as the word power is, it still has its own rule like nature always did and so for me Essence best represents through molecules model for my case I try to use carbon as a base to reference the carbon based life idea I used to hear. To me, this fit very well because it shows that shape itself has no sharp edges and no commanding feeling it still has its own structure and pattern in itself

A reflection on the nature being freely will yet has a simple rule on it own.the green is a colour choice to give it the feeling of nature like chlorophyll green since this is the very first thing that pop to mind when it come to life concept 

“A LATERAL SINGULAR GREEN LEAF”.

Although I'm glad it is what pops into my brain since it is what best represents nature.

Yes, it is organic 

Yes, it has it own will

But it still follows the rule of it own

Like a leaf that requires light to make it own version of food

No light, no food

A simple rule

Now, when it comes to energy 

It is still a natural thing that exists on it own.but unlike the essence, it really wasn't living it like the electric flame or rain

This might make you think it similar to power, but no, either

Energy is very non define, and in it raw form, uncontrollable and non organic think of this word as a

No process power

And

Non organic essence 

Despite their similarity, they are hugely different 

But similarity can't be ignored either, and so for this solution, this symbol is the mix of both words.

It does have a sharp edge to signify it, commanding and strong uncontrollable forces  it might be even more sharp than power since, unlike power, I make sure this representation is absolutely non geometric un define and uncontrollable, and yet despite all that

It still has a curve and natural feel added in

All of this combined with its un-defined shape make it own personality of being free with no restrictions stand out more. 

The color yellow wants to show the first type of energy we humans encounter... or perhaps the first two, but we notice one

According to my definition, the first two type of energy we encounter are electric and flame(basically lightning that cause natural flame)

They both fill in these categories by being nature make but no organic 

But they also affect surrounding 

And so with the yellow color of lightning and flame shape of it aftermath, I conclude this the perfect representation of energy 1

And that is my explanation for three icon

I do all this as mini challenge to try something a bit more complicated than my usual caveman way of thinking straight like. 

Power is loud and loud equal explosion

Energy is electric so lightning it is and immediately draw lightning.

Although those icon aren't wrong

They are simple and clear. 

I just want to try my own version of this assignment to break the usual mold.

First the choice of shape

It is the box/cube containing another box/cubes to put it to short this part represents the under control and help invoke the feeling of man made with it geometric shape.

The second shape is salt crystal.

Sure salt exist in nature but salt crystal with this exact shape must be man made and under control from us only and so the perfect representation of icon is salt.

Red colour choice is the feeling it invoke.

The threat alarm in our brain kick in when we see red.

It remind us of blood.

It remind us of danger.

And through it use in many many time it also invoke a commanding authority.

And this help represents power as a words.

The "power" human seeking is usually not physical but more of how many people can I commanding to do my bidding. And for some unknown reason people who make this feeling well known all use red colour. Such as flag

Like during war in world War 1 and two

The red colour can be seen on vehicle

To intimidating the enemy or even on speech giving ceremony red is used to comand the crowd to feel like they should listen to this propaganda.

And so that is why red fit well with power.

The emotional feeling it brings

The historical reason

The meaning behind it seems to fit well

And that why my power is a red color salt crystal box thing icon.

The almost opposite of power

It is absolutely not man-made.

It is very organic and not commanding you to do anything. Although it do have it rule it follow. This is what Esscence is.

It a representation of life and nature.

They have their own rule and pattern.

It is not a rule that hold with an iron fist and bend to a shape of one entity no

Esscence is it own comunity.

And the shape I choose for carbon molecules group in shape is for that reason.

It is the group the comunity feeling that the words Esscence give me.

It also a very big nod to the idea i hear about carbon base living creatures idea

Another good thing about this shape is

It organic and has it own pattern

It not command you to do something it just exist as the Esscence of something.

It follows it rules it effects surrounding naturally and not forceful like power do.

And so the colour choices

I want to represent nature with this green colour..it cliche but it also do it job well for making you think of green leaf.

Something very organic.and does have rule that it need to follows.

Such as no light no food etc.

And with this shape and colour the Esscence icon that represent the life and living but define and patterned is successful represent.

This is the electric that is not contained in battery or in electrical wire.

This is the fire that first burn and human can't control yet.

This is what power is before it is being control by us.

Freely moving freely shifting.

Energy can't be disappeared it just change form

This ideai really stuck with me

To make shape of something that don't want it self to be shape.

I think the concept of the electric wire being exposed and the electric immediately try to find it way out or to short circuit to try to free itself from being under control as power and return to energy is so interesting.

And that is what I try to represent in this work

The shape that sharp invoke the danger of raw energy. The uncontrollable beast that is energy. And yet it has a curve side that remind it of the natural origin it was born from. But unlike essence.

Energy hate rules.

It just wanna do it thing

Lighting strike when it want

Flame burn where it want and no matter how hard u shout to make it stop it wont stop.

(so please go look for fire extinguisher)

But the point is

Energy is it own thing

It do what it want where it want no control no care..and no life.

To be very clear this is what help separate it from essence.

It actually a non organic part of nature.

Which segment us to

Shape

I make it almost flame shape but stop it halfway to make it look vapor

This is a good shape since it a half half of flame and vapor the ever shifting nature of energy is represent here

While vapor is a thing is subtlety add in(which is why I add it here for the in depth look)

What I am not subtle and in your face is the the color choice.

The Lighting yellow is the credit I give to the Lighting strike that make man discover fire

(that is what I heard happened atless)

It is the first time we encounter raw energy.

We do not contain that flame in campfires nor try to harness electricity from Lighting.

The energy just do it own things.

And I think the shape and colour is doing it job very well here

They affect something

And the Effect icon has born.

I must admit that this do look very similar to tri force from legend of Zelda.

But I'm assured you that this has it meaning I choose white since white is the colour of light that require all colour combinations although it might not been the perfect rgb become the white colour light the meaning of only the combinations of this three can create this effect and effect is something that need thus three to exist.

Triangles group that form itself as both smaller and bigger triangle help to make the feeling of effect icon depending on the three other word given while also in itself is a key part to this word.

This icon also help me chart the other three icon similarity and different.

And electric be the obvious awnsers to energy..

But mid way through I realize

Yeah I could swap any symbol with word by this logic and so I stop this concept to make a symbol that to me truely belongs to that word.

although I try my best to incorporate the yellow tint in to light to mimic the sun light feeling.

unlike most granite picture mine has some part that will have different glow/reflective property than other. that is why I incorporate the spec in the Brighter side to indicate that different material property.

I do add the slightly shadow hue at the darker part of stone but it might be all gone throught many layer of pure black i put in to make it look more make sense

this include icon for both dark color background. and a black icon on light background variation.

to explain why I include Extra icon.

I did this to complete and compare the other three icon to gave them link and differences. since all three words has one thing in common. they all Affect their respect surrounding and causing an Effect to happen. and for that this Icon is the represent of all three words. a represent of their common ground.

First

The power

key words: Manmade commanding and control.

brief explain of power

power unlike the other two word is very manmade in nature. for example power can be include in other words like firepower.

which shown a more physical version of representation. what interesting is when use in any context power will be there with command or control. for example. the you have the power to control the entire world.

and that why power by it self is like a clear define command humanity give to the surrounding to make it bend to our will.

power can affect many thing even other sentient being.

shape explanation

it make to represent the box contain another box. this is to show it commanding

and controlling with the shape that signify it power by being sharp but very much a stable shape(like cube is not something a simple poke can tip over) and to command something it a requirement to be strong and stable while threatening and sharp enough to do so. this is the layer 1 of meaning behind shape of power

the layer 2 is that I intentionally make it resemble salt crystal this is for two reason

first the shape like I said before is commanding on it own however to get a perfect salt cube us human has to collect and make our own salt and the salt crystal in natural state will be fuse with it surrounding make it not cube anymore and so for it to look like the icon with it geometric perfection shape it require to be go through human process. thus represent the manmade aspect and human ability to command nature to our will. and all that is done to ensure that even without color the symbol of power show it deepest meaning of power to all who bare witness

despite this I feel color choices is still important.

color choices : red

a strong color that feel threatening and known across nature as the "I'm danger" color. while also being the color human blood symbol it origin and mocking humanity for dare to do anything to have power even if it mean have their hand red with blood.

now on the opposite end of spectrum

we have Essence

Essence

key words : natural organic and define

Brief explanation for essence.

now Essence usually use along side nature oriented words like life and give out a feeling of a soul. so what make essence different than the other two words is the fact that it is living breathing and thriving no one to control it as it live it own rule in it own pattern but no one to shape it since it choose it own shape in it own way.

the icon shape.

I decide that molecules is the best shape to describe essence. first of all this is a huge reference to the carbon base life form theory/idea and so having life represent by carbon molecules feel appropriate. this shape also resemble the the H20 symbol which is a requirement for life and essence existence. another thing about molecules is the fact that no one shape it that way it just shape itself that way showing it self choosing rule and shape of it self. something that is very essence exclusive trait.

color choices green

first clear reference is plant and chlorophyll

if You remember one thing is that for life to thrive forest and their plant must also be thriving. and I mention chlorophyll because.

despite their seemingly magical food producing ability they still have their organic restriction and rules such as no light no food. all of which is the characteristic of essences

and so that is why I choose this as their color.

last of the three words

is energy and I save the best

for last.

Energy three keywords undefine unorganized and truly free.

the way I want to explain energy is to first explain the other two symbol. since they are both define and control such as power being a clear geometric and control shape and Essence being a clear line dot line pattern for molecules. this is done to achieve the effect of what Define as a concept is .

So it can be use to find the concept shape of the undefine and in this case.

now what end up best explain energy as a word would be the electric that escape it wire. it is not living nor have it own shape

and definitely broke out of the human control

the shape: the mixture of three undefine shape of vapor electric and flame.

this is what energy is it undefine and uncontrol and non living this is the purest form of existing of the three words.

the power that is break free from human control. the nature that neglect the limitation of organic and life .

It free to roam 'free to created ,free to destroy.

and so the shape that are formless don't care if it sharp or soft

or connect or not .

this is the shape of energy

this is connect with the color choices I make.

the yellow that signify yellow hue of Electric that broke free or lightning that first strike to cause fire before us human could have collect it to be used. fire and lightning at that moment has truly roam freely as itself without our interfere.

the fitting color and mockery of the other two existence by being the color that feel more powerful and more living than the other two color choices make for that words despite lacking both quality. this is done to show that Energy is the origin of the other two words. it exist before concept of controlling power or living in their own rules.

to briefly said what energy is it the un controlling power and non living essence.

and undefine existence.

With cast of main character in middle

But since I'm making a zombie poster I can't help but add their grasping hand to show the terror and sheer amount of threat main cast will face against.

While I add satoris the "antagonist " that redeem himself in the background (similar to how vader also spoted in background and going through similar arc) this however were pair with masked death trooper in which hint at both satoris Fate and also foreshadowing the identity of masked death trooper by making sure kale one of the main cast is missing from main cast spot.

Also the star destroyer attached to the purge is pure put there to highlight the fact that they are trap in there strand in space while all this is happening

I want to highlight that there only 1 main character and he is alone against the world that looking to gut and eat him at any moment and if he not careful he will end up no different than the body on the trees or the one approaching him

The ideai is to make this a card

Like poker card

Where king represents two sided and connected and so I will do the same except it connected with their alternate self.

Or atless that what it want Sam to think it is...

I decide to position nekomatron to be up ahead of Sam during this fight despite flying backwards while the train is moving at high speed

With this position alone it established the completely different league the two characters really is add to the tension of the almost impossible odd against this fight.

The two characters were also designed to represent this

While Sam armour seems much more grounded and simple

Nekomatron is a cracked out version of that same armour
