In Macbeth, the main character's actions revolve around the witches' prophecies. When the witches' prophecy that Macbeth will become king, he becomes obsessed with the witches' prophecies and his power. After hearing the witches' propheciesabout the threats to Macbeth's power, his wife convinces him to kill any threats and rivals that could potentially take away his power. However, he is not successful in killing all his enemies, and his murder causes the public to dislike him. Eventually, Macduff brings an army and defeats Macbeth, taking the crown of Scotland.

While in London, Shakespeare’s first printed works were published in 1593 and 1594. He also became a founding member of The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, a company of actors. He went on to produce on average two plays a year, for almost twenty years. He would go on to stay with this company for the rest of his career.

One of the things that I took note while reading the play was the gradual downfall of a character which is something that Shakespeare has a tendency to include in his writing. Shakespeare tends to have his character well off and in a relatively stable position in life such as a well respected general or as an heir to a important family. However, its only after that they experience a key event that their life starts heading downwards until they have nothing left and pass away. In this instance, it was Othello getting engaged with Desdemona and getting assigned to Cyprus.
