According to Leonard, globalization has an adverse impact on the minority languages in Eskimo community. There are fewer people using Inuit native language and their entertainment and communication ways have been changed. Maybe the Internet could provide a chance for minority language because of the lower cost. Every language is a part of every culture, so we should protect minority languages to flourish our cultures.

According to Vaish(2007), the effects of globalization on patterns of language use in Media consumption in Singapore is rather than cultural imperialism. The use of languages in the media also shows the consumption of non-English languages and cultures. This essay also has made some descriptive and theoretical claims to argue that Euro-American culture is not the only story of cultural globalization. It is therefore clear that mother tongues and their related cultures also co-exist under the globalization.

Although Malay is more dominant than English in Singapore, Malay children prefer to use English while they reading a book, surfing the Internet and listening to music. However, the Chinese and Indian children use their mother tongues more often than Malay children and still can connect to their local cultures with it.

Although children in Singaporean are susceptible to the global English and Euro-American popular culture, some children of Singaporean are still avid consumers of their own languages. It is clear therefore that the spread of global English is not xxx.

In Eskimo, the number of people who can speak lnuit are becoming less and less, and many traditional habits are disappear. Consumption is full of their lives. Leonard is worried about this situation. Because he thinks when we lose a language, we will lose a voice of the world.

From this investigation, he found that only little people speak mother language and many minority languages die because of the globalization. He argued that with the development of consumerism and technology, the crisis of decreasing minority language is more serious. Finally, he emphasizes the importance of language and hopes people to protect the diversity of language.
