I disagree with this notion, If a single story is to be told it is important to list the importance and significance of that specific event. Although one might have a better understanding of the topic or issue as a whole it should be up to the historian to include this. Such as with the constitution one historian may detail it as an account of patriotism and justice but another historian might give an account of the slavery that persisted after the declaration of independence and even after the war, both are true but tell a different story but together give better context and full picture but I believe it should be up to the historian to choose if he or she wants to write in this way.
