Kids naturally ask questions about the world around them. It is also natural that they want to know the answers to their questions. I think that comprehension is a very important factor in inquiry because it can drive to more learning and questioning.

I think I can build comprehension skills by continuing to ask questions like "What makes you say that?" "What evidence can you provide to support your answer?" "What else does this make you think about?"

Comprehension is an important factor to inquiry because in order to ask questions about a topic you need to be able to understand what it is that you are asking and understand what you have read and still have questions about. Students have to be able to read in order to comprehend. Comprehension skills can be built simply by reading, responding to what you have read, and talking about what you have read.

Comprehension is an important factor in inquiry because it summarizes all of the inquiries. In order to attain knowledge, one must answer the driving questions that originated in their minds. As the book stated, one can build comprehension skills by rolling out the Gradual Release of Responsibility model. This model allows the teacher to transfer the responsibility to the scholars, which is an ultimate goal.

Comprehension plays a significant part in inquiry. Students can create questions based on their prior knowledge and what they wonder about. As they generate questions, they will begin to inquire and want answers to their questions. Research is the next step in find answers to their questions. They must know how to read and comprehend what they are reading in order for the research to be valid. You can build on comprehension by building a love for reading. Students need to read daily to practice what they are seeing.

Comprehension is an important factor for inquiry because you have to have a level of understanding in order to ask a question to gain a deeper understanding of a topic. A great way to build comprehension skills is to model for our students our thinking and strategies that we use as adults to comprehend a text. Read-A-Louds and explicit teaching of reading skills through gradual release is a way to build comprehension.
