Hi, I am the ICT coach at the Faculty of Humanities at Umeå University. My mandate is to guide and consult with teaching, research and administrative staff in order to help them use and embrace modern, digital technology for their professional day to day needs. My daily responsibilities include pedagogical support & guidance for users of the university learning platforms, online eMeetings, Video lecture system, and digital storage systems. I have about 15 years of experience in the area of instructional design for eLearning. 

Born in India, raised and schooled in the UK, but have lived in Sweden (off & on) since 1984. Winter is my things on all forms of downhill, cross country and touring. Summer is my thing to ... on my motorbike.

I am a senior research assistant at Humlab. My current research project Proud Pictures - Performing Queer Kinship on Instagram (Stolta bilder) is about LGBTQ peoples sharenting (share pictures - parenting) practices on public Instagram account. In the project I examine notions of pride, queer visibility, and family photography in an digital age.

I have a PhD in Ethnology and my research interests also include autoetnography and place/space.

Together with Jon and Fredrik I am also responsible for the seminar programs at Humlab, and I am currently project leader for our up coming Humlab conference in November 2021. 

In my spare time I love to read, I play music and enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

My research focuses on media and culture from a historical and theoretical perspective. I've done lots of work on media and religion. Now I'm focused on the cultural impact of YouTube's recommendation algorithm, among other projects. 

My wife and I have four kids (8,6,4,3). We love living here! I have a background in media technology, English language studies and theater/film studies. And I have worked in Humlab since 2002.

I am a professor (in Sámi Studies & Digital Humanities) and I am deputy director at Humlab. I have responsibility for research, i.e. issues related to our research strategies and research environment. 

In my research I focus on digital practices, for instance in relation to digital media use, surveillance etc. 

I came to Humlab in 2010 so I have been around for a while (beside a leave of absence 2 years 2019-2020 when I worked as a professor in Ethnology at the University of Helsinki).

I am originally from France, more specifically the Flemish area at the Belgian border, but I have lived (mostly) in Umeå since 1997.
