Used as a source of entertainment for the male dominated crowd. Title for this picture was 'ufc needs better ring girls'. Suggests and agrees with the hegemonic masculinity and the idea of male dominance viewership and the over sexualisation of women! This is dowm to viewership being predominantly male so better ring girls provides better entertainment both on TV and those watching! Gets a lot of 'hype' around the event, tweeting etc!

Powerlifter Holley Mangold in the 2012 Olympic Games.

This is 22 year old Holly Mangold lifting her PB of 319lbs, this goes against hegemonic masculinity as she is going against the "norm" of what women should do in sport. Also this goes against the perspective that women are seen as petit, gentle and especially not lifting heavy weights. Throughout society the male has always been seen as the dominant force compared to women and this image proves that as this women can lift more than the average male.
