This museum is a must see if you like some humour in your artworks, but also they have all one theme in common: They all link to superstition.

It was raining on a cold dark night, As I made my way down a bridal pathway,

I came across some footprints in the mud,

A bit frightened of what it could be,

From the dark a black cat crossed my path,

In fear of trepidation it began to purr,

I saw into its green emerald eyes,

And called the cat to come to me,

I knew there would be years of good luck,

To cross a path with a black cat bringing bad luck I disagree. This artworks lookes at superstition as something not true; as just a silly believe. Furthermore, he actually thinks this black cat will give good luck, which is ironic, because that is also sort of a superstition. Why? Because this poem looks at superstition from a different angle. Poetry, 2024

In this song Stevie Wonder tackles unlucky incidents like walking under ladders and breaking mirrors. Stevie believed that bringing superstition into our life adds unnecessary suffering to our life. Why? Do I have to explain myself. It is the first thing you think of when thinking of superstition as art.

In this play a lot of things happen ofcourse, but one thing in particular is outstanding and would remain a thing for centuries. The Curse of Macbeth. Macbeth was a witch inside this play and she was cursed. Now it is one of the most famous theater superstitions that if you say the name Macbeth that it will bring bad luck to your performence. Why? Because I just had to include a Shakespeare, and I personally love the Superstition that came from this play.

William Shakespeare, 1606, Theater

As you can see this road is very curved and most definetly not straight. Everything has a reason, including this one. It was believed that having a straight road like this in the mountains attracted spirits. Another theorie is that if the road is curved the road is not as steep but I personally like the superstitious one more Why? Because I also wanted to include a superstition that had to do with spirits, because that is a major part of superstition

Coco Chanel always thought that her lucky number was 5. She tried everything with 5, tried to publish things on the fifth of the month. I thought it was fun that a company changes their way of doing, just by a number a singular superstition. Why?Because i found it interesting that a person would revolve their company around the number 5, only because it seemed lucky.

He Painted everything blue, because he believed it gave him energy and happiness.

Why? Because it intrigued me that a single thought can affect art so much.

If you look at these clocks, you see them smelting. My theorie is that these melting clocks represent the short time you have on this world. That the time is burning, so make something of your life. Somepeople even made a superstition about this, that if they see a clock melting, your death is close. Which is probably true because if you see a clock melting the building is likely on fire, so you have a great chance.

Why? I chose this not because I thought it fit super well fit the superstitious theme, but because i just like the story behind this artwork which just happens to be fitting with the theme of superstition

This movie is one of my favorite movies, because I can always relate to characters having bad luck and in this movie a lot of characters have that. There are many different superstitions in this movie. For example, the black cat you can see in the picture is believed to bring bad luck. Altough, the main character does not, but that is an other story.

Why? One of my personal favorites. I chose this movie because it just describes so many different superstitions and the movie itself is also very good. (This "why" is a little repetitive)
