Can and could are modal verbs that you can use to express ability, possibility or to ask permission. They work as auxiliary verbs, so we should always place them before the main verb of the sentence so that it conditions it.
The verb can is a modal verb that we use to talk about something and someone having the ability to do something. For example:

He can play the guitar

Maria can sing

They can run very fast

But we also use it to ask or give permission, for example:

Can I ask you a favor?

You can eat grapes if you want.

We use could to express that something is possible or the probability of something happening. Examples:

You could travel this weekend

Natalia could be nice

I could do dinner today

Using might implies that the action may not happen or has very little chance. Examples:

I might call you tomorrow.

Juan might not come tomorrow

I might win the lottery tomorrow

Can: We use can to express possibility or to question possibilities. Is also used to suggest something might happen in the future. The negative of can is can't or cannot.

Examples:

This fish can swim!

She can speak two languages.

He can run very fast.

Prasad can eat a variety of food daily.

Could: Is used to talk about past abilities and possibilities. Is a modal verb because it must always be accompanied by another verb with its own meaning and in the infinitive mood. The negative of could is could not or couldn't.

Examples:

I could swim when I was four.

Could you play chess last year? Yes, I could.

My uncle could speak five languages.

By the time he was seven, he could read and write.

I could jump very high when I was younger.

Be able to: Is special because it is used to talk about ability and possibility, but it can be used to refer to the past, present, or future. It is also used to talk about succeeding in or failing to do something. In regard to ability and possibility, can is only used in the present, could is only used in the past, but be able to is much more versatile.

Examples:

After she finishes this program, she will be able to get a job as an accountant.

By 12 o'clock, we will have been able to fix the problem.

She should be able to attend the conference.

I want to be able to play the flute.

You will be able to speak perfect English very soon.
