I visited the Louvre and Musee D'Orsay and got to see some of the most famous, expensive and valuable artworks ever created: Alexandros Venus De Milo, Claude Monet’s Water Lilies, Starry Night Over the Rhône and the Mona Lisa (Ryan, & Healy, 2008). These artworks the resources available in this case thick layered paints or clay in comparison my artworks which uses new art media and technology (Ryan & Healy, 2008).

Personally, from my own experiences and time spent exploring computer generated art on Instagram and Tumblr, I have learned that Visual Art is not just paintings in galleries but instead is found throughout everyday life (McArdle, 2011). Interestingly many iconic artists have shared a similar perception including, Vincent Van Gough who wanted us to stop and look at the starry night and Andy Warhol who to raise awareness about popular culture, mass production and consumerism (Wright, 2011).

Schiller & Meiners (2008) explain that dance is an integral part of human activity and can often be a means of inner expression, satisfying emotional, mental and physical needs. Personally, the only form of dance that I have engaged with over the years is yoga, aerobic and HITT exercises using Fitnessblender.com, Bella Dancerella, Just Dance and Kyle Hanagami all of which teach me new techniques developing my personal kinesphere along with manipulating and stretching my body to stay fit and healthy (Judith, 2017) (Ryan, & Healy, 2008). Although I do not consider myself a dancer, I have a huge respect for the art form particularly when it comes to health and wellbeing as movement is often referred to as a ‘sixth sense’ (Wright, 2011).

Throughout High School I was very involved in drama and played roles in all the musicals including: Patience, Sound of Music and Fiddler on the Roof. I loved that we as the actors were the craftspeople interpreting characters in our own way, portraying our own self-expression and oral storytelling (Judith, 2017)(Ryan, & Healy, 2008). Along with acting roles I was heavily involved in costume and set designing both of which are important elements when it comes to putting on a production (Ryan, & Healy, 2008).

For me, I feel the most relatable art form is music due to its power to communicate and portray feelings through specific musical elements linking psychological moods and sensory qualities (Ryan, & Healy, 2008) (Session, 1970). For example, music cannot express ‘happiness’, however specific variation in the tones, chords, accents, rhythmic design and other elements can create giddy, euphoric and joyful feelings replicating the atmosphere of happiness (Session 1970). The way music portraying feelings fascinates me and so does the idea of using music as a language bringing people together. I will often spend time researching this concept using resources and excerpts such as the ones shown below.

Because I chose to do music in year 12 I spent a lot of time using these elements to ‘break down’ and analyse songs (Moriarty, 2018) (Ryan, & Healy, 2008). From repetitively breaking down different music I learnt to love all genres, and still today choose to listen to a wide variety of music not just the trending ‘Charting now Radio’ (“ARIA Singles Chart”, 2018). Here are several representatives of different genres I regularly listen too

Playing violin has provided me with many opportunities to make lifelong friends who were also interested in the creative arts allowing us to push developing new techniques experimenting with arrangements and styles (Ryan, & Healy, 2011). The most interesting piece I have done was inspired by dubstep violinist Lindsey Stirling who dances whilst she plays. One of my friends and I did a collaboration work combining dance, her passion, and music, my passion, in a seemingly unorthodox way challenging ‘norms’ just as Lindsey Stirling did, see clip below (Ryan, & Healy, 2011).
