Sean seemed more of a quiet person in class so I thought it would be a good opportunity to learn more about him through this interview. He explained to me that he was very interested in becoming a teacher [math or english] which was pretty interesting, since most of my friends are going into business. Sean seemed to be more of someone who I thought would be interested in business since his speech is pretty formal and straight to the point, and further, he also discussed business related topics in our book group meetings. However he did mention that he has an interest in having a minor in finance because it is used everywhere and can always be a great back-up. This topic also got me thinking of teaching as a career since there are lots of benefits (which we went over). Here, I learned about his decent and family background. Sean, from what I got to realize from/about, is a dedicated person who seems to know what he wants and will keep his head up until he does. Overall, I believe I got a much better feeling for Sean's interests and understanding of his personality. This assignment opened my eyes to how powerful conversation is and it is something that can really do a lot for someone. If you think about it hard enough, conversation is almost everything, because what would life be like if there was no such thing as communication? I definitely think that this conversation made me realise many things not just about my partner, but also about myself. I realized that, just like myself and my partner, everyone is moving on from highschool and it is important to be sure of what I want in my near future. My talk made me even more motivated to do better and work harder during my first two years at Oakton. However I do think that I covered some really good key points. One thing I will carry forward from this conversation is the ability to reach out to new people and give other people a chance that I may have not before. There is a chance for everything, and it is up to whomever to take it or throw it. What is most important, that I think, is to take the chance. Because as we know, or should know, if we don't take that chance to reach out to someone new, to take that job opportunity, to select a college, or whatever it may be, we will never know how it could be/ could have been [if we did not take the chance]. From today forward I will try harder to take on more things that I may be afraid of, or do not care much about, or don't have “time” for. It is time to wake up, get out there a bit, and further important, get things done, and done the right way.
