         <description><![CDATA[<div>-memory is a process (works like a computer: encoding, storage, retrieval)<br>-Atkinson Shiffrin Model (Information Processing Model)<br>     -sensory memory to short-term memory to long-term memory<br>-sensory memory: visual and auditory memory <br>          -iconic memory (visual memory) lasts for .5 seconds<br>          -echoic memory (auditory memory) lasts for 2-4 seconds<br>-maintainence rehearsal (rote): keeping the information in short term memory and then either moving it to long term memory or losing it <br>-short term memory limited to 5-9 items<br>-elaborative rehearsal: making meaning of the short term memory and keeping it in long term memory<br>-long term memory relatively unlimited <br>-sensory registers <br>-chunking allows you to hold on to memory longer</div>]]></description>
