I learned that government agencies share their suppliers to procure requirement at reasonable price and high quality as needed.

We met with the LDCSB via Zoom to discuss the project. They gave us an overview of what we needed to do and the required output for the project.

This thrills me, even though I already had work experience in dealing with clients and suppliers this event is a chance to work on an actual scenario that would help me to enhance my critical thinking and be resourceful through the guidance of our professor. I believe that my team will learn from this project and we are aiming for an A+ for this project.

During my recent learning experiences, I’ve gained valuable insights across several dimensions of the SILEX framework in our practice exercise this week. I had the opportunity to work with my group mates, which enriched my understanding of different perspectives and enhanced my communication skills. I also improved my critical thinking skills while analyzing complex case studies. Through various experiential learning activities, like hands-on projects, I will be able to apply theoretical knowledge practically, which will solidify my understanding and make the learning more meaningful.

This module underscores the intricate interplay between law and public procurement, emphasizing the need for clarity, integrity, and legal compliance in procurement processes. It highlights the significance of understanding legal principles to navigate the law of agency effectively, ensuring that public resources are utilized responsibly and transparently.

Moreover, the discussions on the implications of Ontario Water Resources Commission v. Ron Engineering & Construction (Eastern) Ltd. vs. Ron Engineering serve as a reminder of the potential legal repercussions for failure to adhere to established procurement processes. Overall, this knowledge equips procurement professionals to manage risks better and uphold the principles of good governance in public procurement.

Lastly, I won the Kahoot game it was amazing I got a gift certificate to a free coffee for myself and my friends.

Today in class, we talked about competitive bidding. The types of competitive biddings, the tools in competitive biddings, and the bid process were discussed. In any case, the competitive bidding process seems to ensure that the spotlight shines on the major tenets of fairness, cost efficiency, and quality in the purchase of items. While there are challenges at the same time, there are lessons learned that may serve as a basis for the importance of preparation, communication, and long-term view. I will apply these insights in our effort to improve procurement practices and supplier relationships in the future.

This proved to be a enriching experience wherein our group was allowed to collaboratively dissect a complex business scenario, namely the Hamildon case. These capture the insights gained, challenges faced, and overall impact of the group analysis in quest of a perfect score for this work.

This taught me the value of communication, planning, and flexibility when working as a team. The truth is, these are useful not only in an academic setting but also beyond, as effective collaboration and critical thinking bear great importance in any kind of team-oriented project.

This collaborative project underscored the importance of teamwork and communication, with tasks distributed based on individual strengths. It taught me that successful bidding requires not just meeting client needs but also ensuring feasibility, planning, and budget alignment. These lessons will guide future projects for improved submissions and stronger teamwork.

Developing and applying selection criteria for suppliers was both challenging and insightful. It reinforced the importance of having structured, clear evaluation standards to ensure decisions support project goals. I learned how essential it is to filter suppliers based on capabilities like past performance and technical alignment to save time and effort in later stages.

Evaluating bids required balancing cost, quality, sustainability, and timelines. This process taught me the value of strategic decision-making and long-term thinking, lessons I’ll carry into future supplier evaluations and project planning.

Reflecting on ethics and fraud in business taught me the critical role of integrity in building sustainable supplier relationships and maintaining trust among stakeholders. Ethical practices not only safeguard reputation but also ensure long-term success, while unethical behavior, such as fraud or bribery, risks severe financial and reputational damage.

I’ve realized that fostering accountability, encouraging whistleblowing, and implementing robust fraud prevention mechanisms are essential. These lessons emphasize that upholding transparency and fairness strengthens relationships and sustains business operations, values I’ll prioritize in future endeavors.

Today, we gathered with our group to finalize our SILEX presentation. Working together as a team has been a great experience. Everyone has contributed valuable ideas and insights, which has enhanced our case's quality and made it more engaging. The collaborative atmosphere encourages creativity and open dialogue, allowing us to refine our approach and ensure all perspectives are considered. It’s been exciting to see how each team member’s input has shaped the presentation, and I feel confident that the final product will be both well-organized and compelling.

Looking back on my SILEX presentation, I believe it had a good balance of strengths and opportunities for improvement. I successfully conveyed the alternative of analysis for Furniture Procurement, making the content accessible even to those with limited technical knowledge. The slides helped simplify complex ideas, and we tried to stay within the allotted time. However, I occasionally provided overly detailed explanations, which may have been overwhelming for some.

I valued the opportunity to present strategies for cost savings and process optimization. In the future, I plan to incorporate more research and broader perspectives to engage the audience better. I also want to commend my teammates for their exceptional effort and collaboration in delivering a strong presentation.

Today we discussed related topics from the previous module and reflecting or applying it to Harwich Case study. The Harwich College case highlights the importance of effective contract and vendor management for smooth operations and strong partnerships. Clear contracts covering quality standards, pricing, and conflict resolution are essential. This ensures both parties understand expectations, responsibilities, and escalation steps, reducing conflicts and building trust. Joint quality inspections, as used in the case, demonstrate how collaborative approaches can address issues proactively.

The case also shows how technology like ERP systems can simplify vendor management by enabling real-time performance tracking, automating compliance checks, and monitoring contract progress. Incorporating tools for dispute resolution and quality assurance into agreements demonstrates the value of planning for potential challenges. This experience emphasized the importance of balancing clear communication with teamwork to create successful, long-term vendor relationships.

Some of the most rewarding moments came from the collaborative activities and connections formed with my peers. Whether working on challenging case studies, sharing laughs, or celebrating small victories after presentations, these experiences brought both joy and camaraderie. The supportive environment created by Professor Kim and my classmates made learning meaningful and enjoyable. As this class concludes, I carry forward not only valuable knowledge but also cherished memories and friendships.
