Initially, the toll counted five cabins and the payment was made towards Lisbon and Almada. The first change had happened in 1990 with the opening of a fifth traffic lane, reversible, within the central reservation; three years later, the tolls were transferred to the Almada-Lisbon direction. In 1995 the works started over to extend the board with a sixth route, which will enter service in 1998, and the railroad, opened on 29 July 1999.
