In the other hand, women had to had a more slender and slightly hourglass-shaped figure . The beauty standards were vey similar to previous ones, including skin glass.

In 1960 the women’s standard changed to a more adolescent figure with less curves and long lengs. With men , the same thing happened: Beautiful men had to have no muscles tone and slender chests, arms and legs.

In 1990 the women’s had to be thinnest in comparison to the previous time.

Nowadays, women’s have to be skinny, pale but with curves. The standards of the male body are similar to the ones in the 40’s.

It was a sign of nobility. In that age, your skin color defined your place in society.

Women tried to hide their make-up using toxic ingredients like arsenic to look pale. Pale was synonymous of not working.

The ideal shape of victorian woman was a long slim torso, emphasised by wide hips.

As a curious fact, the use of exessive make-up was viewed as promiscuous and would only be seen on performers or prostitutes.
