Admitting that doesn't mean that white teachers do not understand their students. It merely means that as white teachers, we must recognize our inherent privileges given by society. Neglecting that fact works to justify racist patterns and institutions. We must dismantle them by courageously looking within ourself, even when it's difficult. Accountability is a way to show love.
