In 1863, he believed oil would be a lucrative business to be and established an oil refinery near Cleveland. His Standard Oil Company prospered and will later control 90 percent of the industry. Later due to antitrust issues, his company will have to break itself into pieces. Late in his life, Rockefeller donated a large portion of his wealth to charity</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Andrew Carnegie born in Dunfermline, Scotland, November 25, 1835. He came to the united states with his family and settled in Pennsylvania at the age of 13. Some years later he worked in the railroad business. A decade later he went into the steel business and created Carnegie Steel Company. He used the Bessemer Process to mass produce steel and this revolutionized the U.S. &nbsp;Skyscrapers was one of many things that could now be made from this. He'll become of of the wealthiest men of that time and sell his business to J.P. Morgan.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Cornelius Vanderbilt was born on May 27, 1794, New York. He'd be nicknamed the Commodore because his name would be synonymous to shipping. Vanderbilt made his fortune  with railroads. He'd be the richest man alive at that time.He will also help construct the Grand Central Station. He'd hoped for his favorite son to take over the family business, but died in the Civil War. When Vanderbilt died, he shared his wealth among his children and gave 1 million dollars to help create Vanderbilt University.</div>]]></description>

He studied penmanship and became interested in barbed wire.  He'll become a very successful salesman for  the Washburn-Moen Company and later start his own barbed wire business.  J.P Morgan's U.S. Steel bought his business and tried to fight back. Gates will also found The Texas Company which would be Texaco. He died on <strong> </strong>August 9, 1911.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>John Pierpont "J.P." Morgan was born on April 17, 1837, Hartford, Connecticut. Morgan was a son of a banker and continue the family business by creating his private banking company in 1871. It would be call J.P. Morgan &amp; Co and it will become so powerful that the U.S. government will go to his company for help during the depression of 1895. Morgan will create United States Steel in 1901 and it will become the world's largest steel manufacturer. Morgan was hailed as the master of finance. He died on March 31, 1913, in Rome, Italy.</div>]]></description>
