         <description><![CDATA[<div>The domestic policies George Washington was tasked with included creating a Bill of Rights, which he assigned James Madison and Congress to do, creating the judicial branch in which he set up the Supreme Court, federal district courts, and circuit courts. Also, he had to build the White House and the official capital. Finally, and most importantly, was money. He needed to raise money with taxes, make a national bank, and promote protective tariffs. By putting a tax on whiskey, an attempted rebellion was started that George Washington personally stopped, proving the strength of the U.S.</div>]]></description>

He left behind the idea of (normally) serving no more than two terms until it became an amendment in the constitution, solidifying it in the government. He also left behind the precedent of being called Mr. President as well as wearing formal clothes and bowing to visitors. Finally, he created a cabinet, encouraged neutrality in all conflict, and keeping taxes within reason.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>George Washington lived in Mount Vernon with his wife, Martha Custis, a very rich woman. He could not make children, so he adopted two. Prior to his inauguration, he had been a member of the Virginia House of Burgesses and the Continental Congress, commander of Continental Army, and Chairman of the Constitutional Congress. Although he did not run for president, the Electoral College unanimously chose him, and he believed it to be his civic virtue because of this. He would come back to Mount Vernon in 1797, but would die two years later of a throat infection.</div>]]></description>
