1. Most YAL models desire behavior and behavior that are frowned upon. For example: To Kill a Mocking Bird and The Hate You Give.

2. Anti-Fat bias can cause kids to become self conscious. Many students in middle grade and secondary classroom are starting to become aware of themselves. We would chose text that promote positive self worth and self esteem. 

3. Teachers should conscious of their student and their background. Teacher should hold a conversation with students to discuss norms and possible topic that the book will cover. 

4. In the story Eleanor and Park, Eleanor would use language such as “big girl”(p55). She also states that she felt bad about feeling about her own body(p55).  Eleanor also questioned why she was the “official” fat girl of her class (p55). 

5. The idealized body standard is challenge in Eleanor and Park. Park often struggles with the image of his body. He mention that he finds it hard to find a actor that is attractive. Park is 5’4 and his brother is much taller than him. Eleanor describe herself in chapter 4 as having too much of everything and too little height to hide it. She states that her breast starts just below her chin and her hips were parody.
