This quote from Ada’s Violin takes place towards the end of the book. This is around the time their orchestra is gaining worldwide popularity and they are experiencing things they never imagined. This is a very big and drastic change in Ada and the other’s lives because they were just poor kids that lived near a dump. They went from a group of kids that had to share instruments to getting applauded by many people around the world. This quote shows how their hard work and dedication to learning to play music played off. This is a true story of persistence and doing what you love.

The hill she hid upon began to get really shaky

From the ground arose a lion from his slumber 

To his surprise he found a mouse just one in number

Back home the mouse trotted 

Poachers set a trap to catch an animal just as they plotted

“Beware of the trap” the lion did warn

Until he fell into the trap and need the rope to torn

The mouse chewed on the rope and the lion she did save

Her little babies back at home applauded her for being so brave! 

I chose this quote from the book because it is a powerful “punch” thrown to Esperanza in a very tense time in the book. This quote is sort of the starting point of Esperanza’s life after the fire and losing all of her luxuries including her power over people who use to work for her family. From this time on, Esperanza starts to see her life change drastically from having everything to having absolutely nothing. This is the first time anyone, especially her mom, tells her bluntly that they are now poor and needy. Even though Esperanza takes a lot of time throughout the book to accept her new lifestyle and leaving her old one behind, this quote is where her perception of who she is starts changing. 

You’ll want to read it, it will give you a joyous yell 

The story of the pigs and the wolf started just as the norm

The wolf blew down two of the pigs’ houses with the breath he did form

The two pigs left their story and scurried away 

They found a safe new world with other stories, oh what a day! 

Meeting new friends from different books

The pigs went back to their story just for looks

Quickly to the brick house the pigs and friend went inside

To the wolf’s horror, he found their friend the dragon and didn’t know where to hide 

All was well, and the pigs had some soup

They all lived happily ever after in the brick coop

How does it make you feels when someone’s expression begins to worsen?

Tamika always looked at her grandpa’s face 

She carefully studied it to see what he was feeling each time and place

She could tell if he was curious or sad

She could even tell if he was extremely glad

Until one day when she saw his face so angry and mean 

But little did she know her grandpa was just practicing for a scene

When she tested her grandpa to see if he could make the scary face

He told her it was just pretend and they lowered her heart’s pace. 

I have read a book Snowflake Bentley and I must tell you all about it! It is about Wilson Bentley, a boy with a love of snowflakes. He was so fond of snowflakes that he tried to capture their beauty by painting or drawing them, but he never captured their whole beauty because they would melt. He then gets the idea to ask for a camera that can magnify large enough to capture the snowflake as a whole.  Once he got the camera, he used many different techniques to try to take pictures of them, but it was much harder than it sounds! Nothing ever stopped Willy from doing what he loved. Later when Willy passed, his friends made a memorial that displayed his pictures for all to see and he then became known as the snowflake man or Snowflake Bentley. Wow, how interesting! I never knew how interesting snowflakes could be, let alone it being something someone has a passion for. I guess that makes sense since he lived in Vermont and they get a lot of snow up there. Anyway, I unexpectedly enjoyed this book and I think you would want to read it too. Let me know what you think.
