The city of Teotihuacan started off as a humble center of a pilgrimage where the merchants gathered for religious festivities for blessing of their trade. The city had later became the political and commercial energies of Mesoamerica. Courtyards organized in neighborhoods according to trade or ethnicity. Teotihuacan elites were rich and powerful. The city showed luxurious and roomy palaces located along the avenue and decorated with colorful low reliefs (carvings) an in their courtyards and gardens. We know nay very little about the Teotihuacan history. Aztecs found the city in ruins six centuries after its “collapse”.

Most historians agree that the most important ruler of the time was the Mayan king Montezuma II, who led the Aztec Empire to its peak through political organization. He replaced every government official with a noble born young boy. He was described as despotic in nature and lived an opulent lifestyle, which prompted revolt from some people under him. Eventually, he was overthrown after letting the Spanish in with no questions. All this said, during his rein he established many important trade routes.

The Mayas were a powerful metropolis, they were a composition of several strong cities and shared their cultures.

They housed only the elite and the people that needed to support their power and domination, this included priests, military, leaders, scrubs, artisans, architects, sculptors, painters, musicians, dancers and etc. Traders were essential to the elite life. They gave the, luxury items showing their high status like, feathers, animal pelts, jade obsidian and etc. Palaces often had a bench were the kin would dispense music, receive tribute, entertain ambassadors, and host public rituals and ceremonies. Peasants lived outside of the city in the fields. The lived in houses it’s thatched roof huts and were built on top of earth mounds because it would keep the safe from summer floods and to bury their family members. The peasants fed the urban population and provided labor and military services to ruining classes. Peasants created farmlands y cutting Rees and churning the lower vegetation. But this was not a god mentioned since it would quickly eroded the land and only produced for one or two years.

The Mayas believed in animism, which is believed as every object, places, organisms, and the universe has a soul. Some popular religioms that use this belief is Hinduism and Buddhism. Teotihuacan's society "the place where the gods were created" They believed in the gods because structures have been created before the empire has risen. They worshipped Tlaloc and Quetzalcoatl, who were the most important. Tlaloc was the rain god and Quetzalcoatl was the god of wind, air and knowledge.

in Mexico there is a place with many different pyramids it also goes by the name of

Avenue of the dead it includes the three major pyramids.

Now with the cultural side Mexico,Guatemala,Belize and Honduras there are many cities that are decorated and have many

monuments. This showed how some cultures were connected in many ways.

In the metropolis of Teotihuacan It was said that many languages were spoken in the streets. Some were Zapotec, Otomi, and Maya.

Some exported goods would include:

-Ceramics

-Glass

-Grains

-Leather Products

-Fish, Palm, and Vegetable Oil

-Reed Baskets and Mats

-Textiles and Writings.

Glass was actually invented in the land between the Tigris and Euphrates river and for a long time was the main distributor of it to the rest of Mesoamerica.

Important Rulers of the Teotihuacan

Many surviving inscriptions point to the existence of a ruler by the name of Owl Striker, who ruled between 374 and 439 CE

Owl Striker supposedly welded great power in the Mayan lowlands, shaping Teotihuacan presence in Mayan territory and the conquest of Tikal in 378 CE.

Spear thrower owl was known as a militaristic ruler.

The collapse of teotihuacan. The teotihuacan had no writing system so there was no surfing stories or anything bout axing heading to. Golden age. Many believe that the collapse as caused by a war that had happened between teotihuacan and their neighbor cities xochiclco and cacaxlta. Remains from the Teotihuacan show signs of violence. There were smashed images and buildings, scar of fire, and evidence of bodies showing signs of a violent end. Teotihuacan burned and defaced their own Quetzalcoatl pyramid. But the city did not decline. Trashing the pyramid probably marke a change of dynasties or the overthrow of a weak ruler. But around 650 CE the city has experienced new violence Teotihuacan began to lose its dominance in Mesoamerica, so some call this the collapse.

The Mayas had a written system. These stories were carved in their monuments but nothing about their collapse . A Spanish friar named Diego de land burned every maya book he could find. There were very few books left but nothing about the collapse. A new maya city was built ad continued being built until Spaniards arrived. Hundreds of maya communities still exists today.
