Brain Booster! We will be covering anxiety and the different triggers that can cause it when in school testing, classroom content, and grades. We will focus on creating positive and supportive relationships with other students; self-confidence in ability to succeed; Demonstrate effective coping skills with faced with a problem. The ages that will be invited to my group will be 3^rd-5^th grade (8-11 years old).

Publicity Plan

For group advertisement, there will be flyer post around the campus, information will be in the monthly newsletter. For the students who are interested in attending will get a note sent home to their parents/ guardians explaining what the group is about.

Pre-Group Interview/Screening

Students who want to attend the group will meet with the counselor and do an assessment. Teachers and parents can send referrals to the counselor, and they will meet with the counselor to assess the needs of the student.

Consent

After the group selection has been made notice will be sent home along with an informational flyer explaining the group goals.

Confidentiality. Keep what others say in the group private.

Other group rules will be established as the group meets during the first session.

Group Dynamics

The participants for this group will be 3rd-5th graders. The main focus for the group is to develop coping skills for anxiety due to testing, grades, and over all school.

Stage 1- the group will focus on building a trusting relationship and positive communication between each other.

Stage 2- this will include exploring ideas on how cope with anxiety. There will be games, activities, and lots of group discussion.

Stage 3- this will conclude our group, there will be a post survey to see what the participants took from the group. There will be weekly check-in done by the counselor twice a week for the following three weeks.

The leadership style that will be best for this group is participative which is participate in the group and offer guidance. The counselor would work with the participants and offer guidance, activities, discussions, and support.

Therapeutic Factors

During this group there will be several therapeutic factors that show up in the group discussions. First, development of socializing techniques. During these sessions the students will learn new interpersonal skills. Another one is direct advice, they will be receiving and giving suggestions for handling issues that may arise. Another one is altruism, the ability to help somebody else
